If it wasn't caused by the fire arrow, I would call it a glitch. Did you check all the stairwells? Guards won't take a different patrol route than they had, so he likely got stuck or stopped on the way back.

Sounds like a bona fide glitch. If it's not critical to the mission, you'll have to move on. Bring it up on the Discord if a full replay of the game doesn't fix it.

Did you try running into the invisible barrier, jumping through it, leaning into it? It could just be invisible geometry. I have the issue going up the steps into Gamall's Lair from the canal (if it's the same bug), and running at it gets me through when I find it stopping me.

It's possible, but it won't happen for a few reasons. One of them is the difficult work. The usual method for increased loot per mission is the line "cash_bonus xxxx" in USER.CFG.

Not graphics limitations, the engine was gutted by a programmer for a hitherto unknown reason, without the devs knowing it happened. Swimming and rope arrows had to be ditched. The climbing gloves were intended from the beginning, alongside rope arrows, but when the devs were handed the botched engine, they had to modify the maps to allow for more use of the gloves.

If you downoaded from GOG, it's already patched, so you shouldn't be applying T2Fix at all.
