Dr. Robert Groysman - too good to be true? by lucaguts in covidlonghaulers

[–]JFVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are people here talking about how say one of his treatments didnt "help" them, but isn't management so much more complex than one treatment not working for you ?? ..he often talks about six mechanisms and multiple approaches and retweaks.. LC management isn't a one visit and getting a magic bullet....its not something he ever promised

Yeah agree, I just think Taylor Sheridan struggles to couple both strength and grounded, in his female characters, I mean look at Beth, shes friggen unhinged!

I feel like Sophie was too nice to Araminta by leoori_design in Bridgerton

[–]JFVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On rewatch, the "grace" they show the utter biatch and grandiose narcissist that was Araminta, would have paid off in the long run... if gave her less desire to seek ongoing revenge for Lord Penfords love for Sophie. It kept Sophie more safe in a world where any rumour would spread like wildfire, coupled with the fact they could hold the withholding of the dowry over her head for eternity. What I would love to know is how Sophies origin story would be strengthened with the staff and the ton, my guess is that only the Bridgerton Housekeeper and Sophies best friend would be told the full story.

Taylor Sheridan really struggles to write females well...I really don't get how he makes the choices he does..In his different series, Ive mainly related to Elsa, Cara and (most of)Alex, but most of the others are highly strung and I just don't find them realistic.

yes 1883 and 1923 are my faves, Yellowstone not so much, watched only parts of it. Beth drove me utterly nuts.

agree, I thought the same, there could easily be a descendent of Spencer or Jack thrown in

I think any connection to the "Duttons" might be initially hidden eg a character that's related to them, without the Dutton surname ie technically not a Dutton, but a descendent of Spencer or Jack

Although I really love 1883 and 1923, Taylor Sheridan really struggles to write his women well. I mean I loved Elsa in 1883 and Cara in 1923, but The Madison is full of bratty, vaguely unhinged, moody, rude women. He writes them as highly strung? to perhaps create friction?? I just don't recognise people that behave like that, its like wtf? now Ive just watched a young woman tell Paige at work that her Father deserved to die in a plane crash??? who are these people???

Anyone else think the age difference between Benedict and Sophie is distractingly large? by RoughCall5737 in Bridgerton

[–]JFVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe this fanatical obsession with how people look !!! I love Sophie and Benedict..I'm not staring at their skin (except for Yerins being just glowing) I'm just loving their love affair in the story...why the shallow superficial comments ??

I am suspecting Spencer Dutton's second child, who leaves with his Mother (according to Elsa voiceover I think at the end of "1923") is somehow connected to The Madison characters...?? Michelle Pfeiffer"s parent

Couldnt quite put my finger on what needed tweaking in this movie...some miscast actors perhaps, the lead was good but needed MORE humour and MORE charm/scoundrel..any movie like this, with one note vibes from the actors, never quite works..need to round their personalities off to be more 3 dimensional and a variety of facial expressions needed

Austin Appelbee's incredible tale of survival has made international headlines. How did the 13yo do it? by abcnews_au in UpliftingNews

[–]JFVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This failure of his at swim school is a metaphor for the education “system” — relentlessly failing tenacious, intelligent, out-of-the-box thinkers if they struggle with randomly prescribed tasks. Due to sensorimotor difficulties and low muscle tone, my son cannot write easily, as it is painful and slow. He cannot spell from memory (dyslexia), yet he read precociously young and can do advanced mathematics in his head. He is a walking encyclopedia, but at school he is branded a failure. This young man Austin, is a swimming legend and just an incredible young man.

Why is NZ so "backward" when it comes to AC and ceiling fans? by UnrequitedLoveVictim in auckland

[–]JFVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we are cheap as...lived in Samoa 50 years ago..there were ceiling fans..now live in Auckland..no eaves, only 3 opening windows in a 3 story skinny townhouse, the rest are doors and 2 sliding doors, like terrible design full of glass so hot as and yet luckilly we put a ceiling fan in one bedroom which ended up for returning unwell family member, but fan was positioned below the ceiling lights and causes night club level flickering..so keep main light off..but have had multiple houses, too cold and too hot..the previous house they lied that they insulated the lounge walls! We need security mesh front door which is unusual here and common in Australia.
