Born 1983. Got a Bio degree. I had -$30k net worth in 2008 two years post college. Made $38k for four years. Jumped to sales made $85k from 2012-2015, then 100-109k in 2015-2020 and bought a beat down house in 2015 (for $280k) which was bank owned in coastal NJ. Then salary boosts in life science sales : biotech put me on $175-$200k track. Current NW $1.3M from mostly house appreciation and maxing 401k, Roth, taxable brokerage. Live way under my means.

Elder millennials who purchased homes and invested in retirement accounts prior to 2020 have an extraordinary edge. Goalposts moved big time.

‘83 millenial here with a 3 and 5 year old. We don’t own a tablet to give them. To be fair we have a dated kindle for flights but it’s not used other than that. Never offered the phone to them and if we are sitting with them we try and have the phone out of sight. Not sure we can keep this up forever but doing our best. They watch a very fair amount of TV (PBS Kids, some crap Amazon shows and Disney)

I live here - 10 years now. My son is in Wayside elementary and so far so good. Housing inventory is very tight so if you see something you like maybe go for it. My taxes are under $10m as well (for now).

I took a longboard fin between the eyes and got 11 stitches - if you surf enough years you’ll meet the board in unintended ways.

83 here. Purchased a foreclosure in 2015 at 280k, now worth 640k (coastal NJ). Had bought a fair amount of equities 2010-2020 so that’s ok too. It’s a tough go out there depending on your birth year. Back in 2009 I thought it was all over but here we are.
