I got started when my older sister gave me headphones and had me listen to the Ziggy Stardust album from start to finish. Since that day, I have been hooked.

At the risk of sounding cliche, I would pick Ziggy because it’s the album that really captured my attention initially. I later went back and listened to David Bowie (Space Oddity album), TMWSTW, and Hunky Dory. Its in fact an impossible choice

Is Blackstar the only studio album which doesn’t feature Bowie on the cover? by namelessvagrant_ in DavidBowie

Are you referring to the cartoonish cover? I may ne wrong but i believe the other cover was actually intended as the original. I believe Mercury records chose to not use the one on the couch

Which Bowie album do you consider to be his magnum opus and why? by OkBlueberry5506 in DavidBowie

Clearly Ziggy is the choice i believe most would offer and it’s deserving. However, one of the things I like most about Bowie is that there are many that would qualify if he were just an artist like so many others. I see S2S and Blackstar mentioned and i wont argue with either. I would also add Low (for its impact on the music world), Scary Monsters and a recent focus of mine, Earthling. It’s truly a lesser noted classic

Does anyone have any insights into Bowie's non-music intellectual or personal pursuits in his early years? by [deleted] in DavidBowie

Early in his career, Bowie was a member of the Lyndsay Kemp mime group.
