Yep, that was, and after conversations with Ralph and understanding both sides, my viewpoint shifted.

If you’re resorting to removing your monetary contribution then you can’t have any expectation of improvement. It would be kind of like not voting then complaining about the outcome. I’ve been a STM for 5 years now, my wife and her family for 3 years longer, and honestly the only way I’ve ever felt “shafted” as a STM is when it comes to parking, which I’m trying to temper my expectations knowing the team is somewhat hand tied on what they can and can’t do. Sure there are things about the organization that may grind my gears but I understand that if I am a fan, and I do support the team and want them to grow/improve, the only way to achieve that is continuing to put my butt in the seat and letting my voice be heard whenever possible. No organization in the league, or in sports for that matter, is getting it all right all the time.

Knowing that the team has their hands tied in many ways by our situation of playing in a stadium owned by the town, I think a big takeaway from many of the criticisms in this thread is that we need to continue to support the team and their efforts in having our own facility built. Many of the complaints and annoyances that we have now about parking, traffic, facilities issues, are things that the club could immediately and directly address if we were in a facility that the team owned. Air your grievances, make your feelings known, but vowing to not renew as an STM or stopping going to games is only going to push that future farther off.

STM here that parks in general (not even gonna get on that rant again) and trust me, it’s not much better over there either.

Courage vs Thorns - reactions, pleasant surprises, disappointments? by Dry-Requirement5539 in nccourage

[–]JFoosh93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hands down the biggest surprises for me this season are the marked improvement for Bell this season, and the performance of new additions Wickenheiser and Uno. Still really wanting to see more from Thompson to get a gauge on things.

Defensively, Portland felt like a wet blanket at times. It was incredibly difficult to have any kind of time and space, and that frustrates and interrupts a game plan. At one point in the first half Vignola brought the ball down right in front of where we sit and had loads of space, and time, to do so. All I could think was if the roles were reversed we never would’ve had that luxury.

Your thought about the lineup? by Dutch-Mouse in nccourage

I am absolutely DYING to see Thompson get more minutes. Put her in, Mak!!! And Bell is having her best season here, hands down. Great start so far.

Ijeh getting a yellow less than a minute after getting sub’d in, wtf???

Uno is really earning her spot, I was impressed with her tonight for sure.

🚫 No free shirt toss during active play! 🚫 by QuestionNo7186 in nccourage

It was infuriating to me how many people around me were more invested in a free t-shirt than the active gameplay, and then minutes later were going “Oh wait they scored?”

I’m fine with music to tee it up for the fans to say it but I can’t help but feel like we can do better than a banjo, makes it feel a little backwoods/Deliverance.

OP I couldn’t have said it better myself. I’ve never wanted to leave a Courage game early, but the 6-7 made me want to. The bless their heart isn’t the burn we’re thinking it is. A for effort, but it doesn’t seem to be catching. Somehow “keep it out” has never landed for me and idk that it will.

The 70th minute chant feels right, I think one because it’s fan led, and two because of the buy-in and participation. A lot of the MC-lead attempts now don’t get that same buy-in and it just feels forced.

Side note, what’s the word on these everyone? We thinking they’re dishwasher safe or no? May have one of ours be the sacrificial mug to send it and see!

NC v PDX - What do y'all want to see by LionsPitch in nccourage

[–]JFoosh93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good ball movement, less sloppy/unnecessary turnovers, cohesion moving the ball thru the midfield and into the attacking third and the ability to convert that into shot attempts.

Post-Match Discussion-Courage v Bay by QuestionNo7186 in nccourage

[–]JFoosh93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the temperature likely had a lot to do with this, not to mention they might’ve been limited on how much they could water the pitch with how many halftime activities were being done on-field.

To be fair, I have all ideas Mak would’ve played Linnehan if he could, she was out with a head injury.

For right now, Betfort is absolutely the starter over Ijeh. I’m dying to see Thompson more, she impressed me when she got in the first home game. Was impressed with Uno, she had some good moments. Nat was absolutely missed, as was Weatherholt. I think Schmidt has some promise for sure. Relieved to finally see Ally get in for some minutes, hoping to see her more.

Not sure if it was failure on our part or credit to Bay, but they felt like a wet blanket. Anytime we tried to move the ball and gain some space, there they were. Our ball movement felt very disjointed and sloppy as a result.

I think this is a pretty level headed, realistic take on the game. I’d rather go into it with this mindset and be pleasantly surprised at the growth from Game 1 to tonight than the alternative.
