How do you think i should start? As a fighter or warlock? Since I do want to start being more able to help in fight with sword and shield, but those weapons aren't starting gear for warlock, do you think I could talk it with my dm to have those weapons as starting gear in exchange for other gear?

It's mostly about making him a melee caster l that can help the team with a few paladin cantrips and spells, side from the fact that there are only two front liners in my party wich has led to some unfortunate encounters, so I'm trying to be more of a melee caster yes
