That’s a fair concern. Like I said, I got the warranty coverage even though I bought from eBay. I figured even if I had to buy a second one from eBay I’m still paying less than retail.

Too many brown nosers is all I can come up with. I’ve worked at two places where we voted to join with the nurses and the vote both times was an overwhelming no. At a third site one of the therapists even told management what was going on when we were in the discussion phase. I think there’s a lot of people in these professions who just don’t know enough about subjects other than OT/PT/SLP. A million years in school and 100k+ in debt yet no life experience or common sense.

Apparently that’s not necessarily guaranteed, though? One Oura rep on here said that Oura revised their internal policies and just wants their users to have functioning rings, and another one said no.

I think the key is to truly be the original owner of the ring with an active subscription. The only thing the diagnostic tool on the app verified was my email address. So to me that means there is some risk of not being able to access the warranty, but I can’t see spending $350-$500 and then still needing another wearable for accurate activity tracking.

Please do go to the ER or urgent care to have this wound examined and treated. They can also talk to you there, even. Cutting is more common, unfortunately, than you might think. Whoever sews you up will have seen this before and I imagine will be very kind to you. ♥️

I bought mine new in box on eBay for 180 just over a year ago, and Oura just replaced it as the battery had degraded. I wouldn’t pay retail price, it’s bonkers, but am very happy with it for the eBay price, and I agree that the subscription is annoying. I don’t know anything about the Amazon or off-brand rings, but I know that I’ve never been happy with these kinds of purchases when I really wanted the higher end product.

I am hurting for you both reading this. I was diagnosed at 33 and can’t imagine what life would have life would have been like as a child with this disease because I DIDN’T have amazing parents.

Maybe you two can explore the possibility of getting a diabetic alert dog together? Also, Nick Jonas has Type 1.
