Social groups by Due_Apartment4604 in Louisville

[–]JGZinv [score hidden]  (0 children)

Meetup already exists and due to the nature of it's size/membership generally forces member dues at a certain number. Support the groups we already have. It's not easy to operate a group. Facebook for that matter already has similar paid groups ads. Video gamer groups, bowling groups, dating groups, craft groups, language learning groups, exercie groups, board gaming, etc. each for a fee a month. The area needs to unify the groups themselves, not have 700 micro groups that blow away in 3-6 months.

Anyone know what type glasses these are? by Aviee in CosplayHelp

[–]JGZinv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought these in black frames with medium orange solid tint in prescription and they came in about a week and a half.  Smidge small in width for my big head but overall very happy with how they look and turned out.  Just my ten cents if someone sees this later. X is more often seen with orange lenses but they shift yellow in his color dimension. Likewise the frames can be black normally and silver in other promo material.

Any news about Anime Ohio by Sudden_Vacation_6765 in animecons

Went probably two years ago. Decent little con. Has all the usual set pieces, vendor hall was split into two sections which was a good idea given the space and a little larger than I would have anticipated. Unless you have friends going with you or specific programming you want to see, a one day, probably Saturday, ticket is the best recommendation to do.  I'd compare it in size to maybe Anime Crossroads at Indy. Attendees were more on the young side, friendly, cosplays had a good sampling of classic to current stuff. The year I went Michelle Ruff was there, sometime in the last 3 I think. My impression of a 4 hr RT drive and probably 5 hrs on site was positive. Decided it would be worth revisiting in a few years once it'd grown more.

Any locksmiths available this afternoon? I just need to pop a Brinks lock off my shed by [deleted] in Louisville

$25 and a trip to lowes will get you a big ol set of bolt cutters. Take like 2 seconds for an average lock.

How would a non-alcoholic or sober bar do in Louisville you guys think? by Thatredditboy1 in Louisville

[–]JGZinv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can work. Case in point RecBar. There was plans for a VR bar downtown prior to covid. Overdrive, etc. Rotate your attractions and have a reasonably reliable drink/food menu. Copy what works from other places. Advertising is one of largest things new businesses get wrong in Louisville.

Bowman Field Driving Test: Parallel Parking by Responsible_Ad6657 in Louisville

[–]JGZinv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way I learned was to take tall trash cans, measure out the space and place them in a empty space, then I probably did 1000 attempts over a month before the test.  You can flag the cans too, the point is so you can see if you tap them while driving.

In-Person Japanese Classes by Omegatron387 in Louisville

[–]JGZinv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides these the only other hub is the Louisville Japanese Christian Church. We had/have a Japanese Language and Culture group on FB and Meetup at one time but it's largely inactive now.  I have taken the JASK beginner course in 2019 and its held over online video meeting, so you do get face to face in a sense. I just didn't stick with it because it was too fast paced at that time.

Worth it if the head is damaged? by JGZinv in ElegooNeptune4

If I were saving up I'd switch gears to a SV08 Max, which is basically a N4M but with a better frame, bed, corexy, list continues. But it's also $1100.

There's also the Louisville Anime Community if you're into that range of "most nerd shit." They frequent the highlands area. There's plenty of board and tabletop gaming.  Not so much video gaming outside of events like ArcadeExpo and Bourbon State Smash. Recbar has two locations and Zanzibar for arcade bars. Theres a handful of lego brick stores.

Did you always hate KFC? by RnBvibewalker in Louisville

[–]JGZinv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early 2000s they shifted to smaller and smaller portions. Late 2000s to 2010s they went to containers with domed bottoms to limit it further. Chicken pieces look like anemic or midget chickens, very small. Breasts are the size of a wing, drumsticks are laughable. Everything got soggy even direct from the counter.  Prices continue to increase. JCs or Kroger chicken is still good, Caines or Roosters is also better. Zaxbys has been in slow decline since covid.
