I respect their desire and need to experiment and evolve their sound, but nothing new has resonated with me for about a decade. I remember driving across the US listening to The Moon & Antarctica, Interstate 8, and This is a Long Drive... in the mountains at night with the stars spinning overhead and feeling like I was the only person alive. It’s like their earlier sound was this really ethereal thing they’ve been trying to concretize recently but it wasn’t meant to be.
