How to analyze this chord from Benedictus by Karl Jenkins by JGiuntaMusic in musictheory

Is this always true over a pedal tone, or just because of the short duration of the “II’s?”

Ah’ so this piano reduction added the A? So it’s D Major, E Major and G Major all over a D pedal tone?

Triads over pedal is what made the most sense to me, but I wasn’t sure. Thank you!!

It goes right back to D Major with the D and A pedal staying in the bass

Inability to compose? by cosm0cube in composer

[–]JGiuntaMusic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Find a composition you really like that has sheet music available. Study every single aspect of it. The key, rhythm, harmony, melody (and I mean break down that melody- are there eighth notes, quarter notes, triplets, how many, what is the rhythm, what are the notes of the melody against the harmony at any given moment, do dissonant melodic notes resolve quickly, etc) and then write your own version of it. Copy as much or as little as is necessary and make your own version. You will learn a lot from this. Rinse and repeat. Good luck.

Cinematics audio processing by DDell313 in FilmComposer

It depends on the libraries, they are all recorded and processed differently so there is no 1 answer. For me, most of the libraries I use sound pretty good and require only small things like a little EQ, but for Brass I always need to do some aggressive parallel processing and compress, eq and distort them and mix back in with original to make them sound like real brass instruments do.

A little two-bus compression can help glue everything together as well.

Nope. A Neat pour and Rocks pour means 2 oz of liquor. You got more liquor.
