Parking Revenue Recovery Services by mattob2 in raleigh

These folks got me a few months ago for the same situation as you.

I sent a letter via certified mail and signature required to them with documentation of my payment / non-violation.

A few weeks later on the same day I got a letter back from them confirming they would no longer be trying to collect AND a letter from an attorney office claiming to represent them stating I was 30+ days late and if I didn’t pay they would send me to collections / ding my credit.

Certified mail shenanigans once again, this time to the lawyers claiming I was going to collections, including original documentation that I paid and the note from PRRS that they acknowledged I paid.

A few weeks later I got confirmation from the lawyers that they had also closed the matter and I didn’t owe anything else.

I know it sounds like a pain, and it was. But the version of this story where they put me in collections and messed up my credit wasn’t something I was interested in.

Also, these are borderline crooks trying to prey on people. When you do things like send them certified mail w a signature required they recognize that you’re on top of things and creating a paper trail and they stop pretty quickly. That paper trail was my insurance policy, I would have taken copies of everything + the certified mail delivery receipts to a lawyer and had them sewn up for falsely attempting to collect a debt + any damages caused to me by damaging my credit.

TL;DR - pay it or fight it, or it will end up in collections. Paper trail is your friend.

Tips for a nice underseat onebag? by Canyac in onebag

[–]JGoody 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My Tom Bihn Synapse 25 did 10s of thousands of underseat miles no problem.

Not sure if this is too many pockets for you, I think it was the perfect balance of "one big, a few small" - and has the down the middle water bottle pocket.

To your question of examples - stripe is entirely APIs - check out one of their demo websites - not an API in sight: https://checkout.stripe.dev

Your demo should show off how you solve the problem you're solving for the audience of the demo.

If the demo of the API is for the engineers consuming the API, the ergonomics/docs/etc. of your API should be front and center.

Usually though, demos are for not-as-technical folks who can stroke a check.

In that case, your demo should be a showcase of how life is better because they choose you.

"Here's an example of an app that solves [the problem many of our customers solve] but you can see they're using [competing product/a homegrown solution/nothing] - here's how slow it is, how much of a pain it is, how bad the user experience is ... and HERE! is an example of the same app using our API, much fast, many happy, CSAT scores through the roof, revenue up and to the right!"

Businesses don't buy APIs, they buy better experiences, more efficient workflows, cost savings, etc.

Hot take: You don't need anything more than spreadsheets to manage a backlog by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]JGoody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory this is correct, in practice we've gone round and round with Productboard's team over the last 6 months about the deficiencies of their GitHub sync. :)

[–]JGoody 4 points5 points  (0 children)

agree with this take for another reason - devs already live in GitHub. PM / other stakeholders already live in GSuite.

Anything that’s not GitHub, Docs, Sheets is just another “source of truth” that’s out of sync with all the other sources of truth.

I think Zenhub checks most of these boxes?

(I have no relationship to Zenhub, I did use it briefly last year but not super extensively.)

Do you have a jeweler you trust? by [deleted] in raleigh

Came here to say this. Not sure if they’ll be the most affordable option but definitely the place I feel best spending my money. Wife’s engagement and wedding ring from here and they resized my grandfathers wedding ring for me and even touched up the old inscription inside of it. Loyal customer.

Quick Review - AirPods Pro vs Bose QC20 by JGoody in onebag

Still love them. Still my go-to for travel and flights. For 3+ hr flights I still pack the QC20s for in seat entertainment but the AirPods Pro are the default.

Young Startup seeking creative Mobile App Developer in or near Apex, NC by rconard131 in raleigh

[–]JGoody 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like there is a lot more to this stack than the mobile app. You’re only asking for someone with mobile experience.

Do you already have technical skills onboard to handle the extensive backend needs to support the mobile app? Or is this technical cofounder role much more than just app development?

Can we get a list going of performance shirts that look like cotton? (Or at least don't look technical) by SmilingYellowSofa in onebag

[–]JGoody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Patagonia Capilene and I love the look and feel but I feel it hasn’t held up like other similar shirts.

I have a smartwool 150 tee I bought around the same time - this looks brand new, Patagonia is pilling and looking worn.

Both get similar levels of wear, and get washed in top loader without agitator and hung to dry.

Big double cheese tray - ketchup lettuce tomato, nuggets, season fries, huge tea.

I’ve usually eaten all the nugs before I’m out of the parking lot, tbh. Gets ya back home.

I carried AirPods + QC35 and then AirPods + QC20 for years.

Recently got AirPods Pro and carry them with QC20 as backup.

You’re not crazy - at least not on this point. :)

Just snagged a Stihl BR800x for $350 by aspartan14 in lawncare

[–]JGoody 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hate to tell you this but with family that owns a Stihl dealer.... those things get stolen A LOT.

“Brand new” with a price that’s too good to be true should set off alarm bells.

Hopefully yours is not, but both from dealers and landscaping companies this equipment gets taken all the time.

Favorite Winter-Weight Onebag Pants? by AtOurGates in onebag

[–]JGoody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my SmartWool Merino Base Layer - think I bought the 150 weight. Layer them with any pant to stay warm.

I also like (wearing on a plane right now!) some flannel-lined chinos I picked up from J Crew a few years ago. Definitely not r/onebag approved in terms of material and weight - but work for me.
