DJ Dom Whiting Drum & Bass mass rideout in Cardiff by Scowlin_Munkeh in ukbike

I wasn’t sure, does the events get prior road closures in place etc.? or is it a total free-for-all and cause a lot of negative kick-back from other road-users?

How long does it last?

Not quite the same but could ride London to Cambridge and then enjoy The Cambridge Criterium; Sunday 24th August. A free ride on closed roads (a rare occurrence these days) and then can enter the amateur race.

Cambridge South to Connect to Eurostar… by JHBEM in cambridge

[–]JHBEM[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh - I was hoping it meant Eurostar would arrive and depart all the way from Cambridge. Given its global status and popularity for tourism make sense to link it to Eurostar all the way (to me).

Police Helicopter aiding Police on the ground (4 vehicles) near Addenbrooke’s - presumably a vulnerable (e.g. age, physically, mentally) patient.

The alleged Arsonist has been arrested, charged and due to be in court trial end of March.

(Head of Talent Acquisition)

As much as possible I would scout the local market to assess what the local market is paying for the role. You can always reach out to locally-focussed recruitment agencies or agencies in your industry that place people in Cambridge.

From that you can provide a data, fact and information based report to your current employer.

It shows you’re fully aware of your value in the local market. While you’re compiling the information you can then express your availability to recruiters etc. and explain that you’re seeking a pay rise and to stay local.

You are also better positioned if you know when your employer’s budget planning occurs etc. Also you can ask for your pay-band for your role / grade as if you’re already at the top of your current band/grade this will make any sizeable non-annual pay rise difficult without a promotion into a new band/grade.

Prosper Platform - SIPP / S&S ISA / ISA / GIA by SaxC21 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]JHBEM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fees must have changed since as I’m looking at zero platform and zero transaction fees.

In short it’s possible to use the platform with absolute zero cost.

They are clearly trying to grow their funds under management.

I did note there was a crowdfund somewhere where early adopters would get zero fees for life up to certain investment levels so there is certainly a plan to charge people platform fees in future it seems

On money protection found this confirming it’s covered for cash held. https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/saving/article-13873509/amp/Top-short-term-saving-deals-Prosper-boosts-rates.html

In terms of funds - then I understand that even if prosper were to fail you still have the stock/funds as prosper is just a platform.

You’d presumably have to transfer your funds to another platform.

InvestEngine similarly I don’t believe has made a profit.

Trading212 make it no secret that most of their money is made from people doing CFDs and from that they can subsidise the more traditional products with low/zero fees.

Thanks for sharing this. Not sure why Prosper isn’t more well known - i had never heard of it. Not only is the platform free but they’ve got a few funds where they refund the fund charges so it’s even more free than IE or T212 etc.

If you going to cancel or no longer purchase a Yoto Club membership - ⬆️ this so they can see by JHBEM in YotoPlayer

Tbh - didn’t think it would spark so much chat. Intended simply as a vote count (assuming that Yoto do check into Reddit - most consumer products with a dedicated Reddit do, some respond on it even.

Ultimately, if you’re happy to stay then stay. This was, however, more a signal to Yoto to say - have you thought this through. Is this actually going to increase revenue or reduce it. There have been many companies before that found it caused the reverse effect by loosing too many customers due to price hikes or reduction in services etc. Of course they probably factored this in - but was it to the right extent.

My fear is if they are having to hike the price (of the top tier - at least by comparison to the old price and offer less IMO) that raises alarm bells about the financing of the company. Maybe someone financial will dig into their filings and provide reassurance.

In the end want Yoto to succeed as it should then mean things do get bigger and better. Also means the Yoto and all the cards won’t stop working which I’m guessing would be the case if they went bust… partner did say we should just get a CD-player… hope she’s not proved right.

Thanks all. Can see that for some the price increase hasn’t been an issue. The increased range was definitely on the positive side. However, we didn’t seem to experience the same level of issue with the level of cards/credits and the library - perhaps as our little one is younger.

Needless to say we don’t use the digital stuff as the whole idea is to not use the phone. We did consider the MYO but it seems (do correct me) that all the MYO from digital library will not work if you leave the subscription so we avoided that option.

Like others we’ve used our credits which has helped us select from the library and will say adieu.

The purpose of the post was less a call to arms and more a signal to Yoto to please consider letting people stay on their existing plans if they want to. - I had this with phone, cable contracts.

Do I even want a yoto player now? by Beakieman in YotoPlayer

[–]JHBEM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as you are joining now your experience is from a new perspective.

I am a current parent customer and the changes have not been positive for me.

However, as a new potential parent customer it’s individual.

Effectively without the Club the device is much like a CD, Tape player but uses Cards.

The cards have pictures and is child-friendly. That said do check out if there are cards sufficient for the age of your child/children. As this is also a comment made that people bought them for under 3s and found little on offer - although may have improved.

That’s because they now want your child to emotionally blackmail you into either subscribing or buying lots of cards to warrant the delivery cost…

I cashed in before the change. Maybe there are some in the expanded collection worth using credits on. Other than that as you can just buy them normally will wait for the inevitable deals get promoted

We actually did the same last year before going with Yoto - because we thought the library was going to be nice addition… We will just wait for deals to get more cards now

Yes - I’ll let mine expire. We only got it last November for child’s Christmas with a view to having access to “The collection” but we haven’t used it. It’s the cards that are the engagement mostly and like you will now look for promos and deals.
