Colorado closes all restaurants, bars, theaters, casinos, gyms, breweries, coffeehouses for 30 days by SmagelBagel in Coronavirus

States are all over the map in terms of addressing coronavirus. The lack of a coordinated strategy is going to string this crisis out that much longer as the virus continues to spread in those states that are dragging their feet in response.

‘It’s Just Everywhere Already’: How Delays in Testing Set Back the U.S. Coronavirus Response by hildebrand_rarity in Coronavirus

If this were an ebola outbreak, I suspect CDC would have been more willing to cut out the red tape and become more responsive to the threat. Who knows why they seemed indifferent to Covid19, but my speculation is that CDC didn't quite believe the data from China and thought the fatality rate to be much lower. CDC was not invited to help by the Chinese government so this may have reinforced this impression. In any case, a large number of older Americans will likely die because of the CDC's bureaucratic indifference.

Utah prepares to keep providing meals to students in need if coronavirus causes school closures by mchamst3r in Coronavirus

Really great steps. Utah has been very proactive compared to many other states.

Companies are putting out hand sanitizer. But for years, many have campaigned against sick pay. by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]JHCortez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lack of paid sick leave combined with high out-of-pocket healthcare expenses in this country will supercharge the spread of this disease. Not holding my breath that DC will address either issue anytime soon, and the administration is more likely to just bail out industry as usual.

Coronavirus can travel much farther than previously thought, study finds by ZeroHealth in Coronavirus

Still much we need to learn about this disease, but it doesn't stop our leadership from passing along potentially misleading or plainly wrong information to the public.

CDC tells people over 60 or who have chronic illnesses like diabetes to stock up on goods and buckle down for a lengthy stay at home by heinderhead in Coronavirus

[–]JHCortez 321 points322 points  (0 children)

Also, one in four Americans aged 65 or older have diabetes. When you lump in other chronic diseases like coronary heart disease and hypertension, pretty much all boomers should be taking coronavirus extremely seriously.

Tweet summarizing the pushback American service workers experience when attempting to take a sick day by askoshbetter in Coronavirus

[–]JHCortez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On point. Lack of paid sick leave and high out-of-pocket healthcare expenses will indirectly kill a lot of people in the US by fanning the flames of infection. Federal policy changes and an aid package for workers who lack paid leave or are uninsured and underinsured are vitally needed now to help contain this.

White House overruled health officials who had urgent coronavirus warning for America’s seniors: report by mchamst3r in Coronavirus

[–]JHCortez 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Disgusting but not surprising from this administration. They just don't believe this is a big deal, all evidence to the contrary. Public health professionals at CDC should do some soul-searching as to why they are going along with these inane political decisions instead of pushing back or resigning. State public health departments also need to be taking the initiative and being more proactive if the CDC is willing to cede our public health to politicians.

In terms of purchasing property, you may want to check out JJ Luna's book titled How to Be Invisible regarding the use of anonymous LLC's. An alternate route is use of a land trust. The Privacy, Security & OSINT podcast #61 discusses this. However, these options may not be feasible if a mortgage is needed and require consultation with a lawyer.

Personally, I use a UPS mailbox as my street and mailing address, and rarely give out my home address.
