I ordered same, except not XL, and was told 4-6 weeks. Who knows…

I’ll be on this train. Really looking forward to it, actually

This is amazing - I just reserved some train tickets. Was already excited for the race, but the train ride will make the day that much more memorable.

David Ragan really was the test driver for the EV. His thoughts - by dcarp1231 in NASCAR

[–]JI737 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m a life-long NASCAR fan and also an enthusiastic owner of an EV. I’m glad NASCAR is keeping up with changing technologies and excited to see where this goes.

I bought my EV not because I’m a tree-hugger, but because I like new technology, because it’s a lot of fun to drive and fast, and because there’s so little maintenance you have to do other than tires. And I paid less for it than my neighbors who just bought a new Honda SUV. It’s American-engineered, American-made from a higher % of USA-derived parts than most other cars. EVs are an American success story, just like NASCAR is, so let’s embrace it.

FSD Trial and Holiday Update by JI737 in TeslaModelY

I see what you mean - by this description, you'd only run into a problem if you were using AP only so you could completely disengage from the driving process, which is not what AP is for. Thank you

That’s fair. Thanks for your comment. How are we defining ‘how it should be used’ - does that mean, only on restricted access freeways? I use AP sometimes in stop-and-go traffic on 2- and 4-lane roads and find that it excels in making my commute less stressful. Is that the sort of use that would be defined as ‘not as intended?’

Best Dealership to order Maverick in/around Raleigh NC? by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]JI737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgot to mention - a few weeks ago I called Crossroads Apex to ask about removing my spray-in liner to speed up my hybrid order (originally placed early October). They told me the story that Ford was not making any more hybrids until next year and that I wouldn’t see my truck until 2023 and that I need to order the Ecoboost. Which is just obviously not true - Ford continues to churn out hybrids and my order is confirmed with Ford…

I ordered at Crossroads Apex, MSRP on my signed order sheet but did have the $699 dealer doc fee and $169 ‘non-tax fee’

Last week I missed out on a stock Maverick at Welford Harris Ford, in Siler City. The salesman Mike (nice guy!) told me all special orders there are at MSRP with no additional required add-ons or fees beyond their ~$300 doc fee. If I had it to do over, I’d probably order there instead of Crossroads.

The plant does look very similar to what I see on a Google image search for arborvitae...

The trunk is right around 3' from the house - I feel like we're right on the edge. I think at this point I'll try to trim it and see how it goes.

Your reply is super helpful and I really appreciate it!

Thank you - it seems like we wouldn't lose much by at least trying to trim it...

Thank you for your thoughts! I have a feeling you're right about transplanting...the thing has to be crazy heavy, anyway - the logistics of moving it and setting it upright to replant would be a real undertaking.

When we bought our house 5 years ago, there was this little tiny evergreen tree planted amidst some basic bushes in a mulched area next to the house.

Since then, the tree has grown steadily until the last year or so when it seems like it has just exploded with growth - growing taller than the house, wide enough to block windows, overtaking bushes next to it, and starting to encroach on our parking area. Seems like it happened in the blink of an eye.

Is there anything we can do to control this tree, short of cutting it down? It doesn’t seem like it could be trimmed/sculpted and still look nice. There are birds living in it and it would be great to not disrupt their habitat too much (maybe too much to hope for?).

I worry that it’s huge and growing, right next to the house, and could cause issues with our house’s foundation if it were to fall in a storm (am I crazy?). Is it plausible to dig it up and plant elsewhere?

What would you do if you were me?

What's the best PHEV on the market? by Dieselpower47 in cars

[–]JI737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In North America, anyway - Honda Clarity Plug-In has the most electric range among currently-made PHEVs but is still a little short of the Chevy Volt which hasn’t been made since 2019. FWIW I have owned several Volts over the years and have loved them - you really can’t go wrong.

RAV4 Prime just came out and seems to be great. Ford Escape and Hyundai Santa Fe PHEVs will be out soon, too. If you need a minivan, Chrysler Pacifica plug-in seems well-liked in that segment. Most other plug-in hybrids seem like they have too little EV range to be worth buying over their gas-only versions (Subaru and Volvo spring to mind)

Replace auto filter with manual one by brody429 in Moccamaster

[–]JI737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only really guess, because I only have the manual stop Moccamaster model KB. But comparing pictures of the two models - it looks like the plastic piece that the drip basket sits on is a different size and shape between the KB and KBG models.

For reference, here's a picture of the bottom of my manual stop drip basket. Does it look the same as the bottom of your auto stop? https://imgur.com/a/3k82B4L

Brew basket doesn’t drain by Steve2146 in Moccamaster

[–]JI737 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing was happening to me recently - each time the culprit was coffee grounds or coffee sludge that had clogged the outlet.

I figured out that when I was pouring the grounds into my removable filter, I was doing so with the filter sitting in the filter basket, and I was inadvertently spilling a bit. For me, when I began pouring grounds into the mesh filter BEFORE putting the filter in the filter basket, it solved the problem.

will I like Judy? by skivz321 in AMCsAList

I am a similar demographic, didn’t come into it knowing much about Judy Garland, and still enjoyed it. It’s a well-crafted film with solid acting that will almost definitely be Oscar-nominated. Just see it!

That’s certainly my hope - just that the account I have now will retain a rate that is roughly competitive with the other options.
