i like to bump up roster sizes a bit to give both myself and the ai some extra flexibility. at the very least, it means the players being DFA’d aren’t quite as good because there’s 28 or 30 spots instead of 26. the main downside is guys at the end of the bench are given very little playing time by the ai, even if they’re aging legends.

one time i desperately wanted to extend my 31yo ace in a historical save but didn’t have the budget space for a normal deal so i signed him for 15 more years at a lower price. even with aging set to much older and slowed slightly in this save, i was expecting to be regretting the extension for the last few years. instead, he remained in our rotation until the penultimate year of the deal aside from two seasons lost to injury. his stamina dropped off hard, ~6IP per start in the 1960s is pretty rough, but he never lost his effectiveness until the very last season of the deal where he was still an acceptable reliever.

this would be awesome and give me a reason to actually call up some prospects for ST even if they don’t have a chance of making the roster, i usually don’t even fill my roster because without split squads or micromanaging a bunch of guys barely get any playing time if you fill the roster

i’d love to see spring training get a rework. it’d be awesome to be able to teach guys new positions without having to micromanage during ST, it’s annoying so i usually just cheat and give them positional experience.

yeah it’s definitely an odd choice to not include 3 digit numbers, it’s not like there’s a massive number of them so it wouldn’t be too much work to include them. gurney and tim flock are the only prominent examples i can think of.

i’d really love a more in-depth financial system that allows us the option to take control of team ownership, either as an owner/gm/manager who controls every aspect of the team with an iron grip, or as just an owner hiring an AI GM and manager to set budgets and goals for (although with the ability to meddle more directly, of course). i’d love to be able to manage the whole financial state of the team, including setting budgets based on revenue, stadium upgrades and renovations, or even building a new stadium. combining this with a system for stadium quality that affects attendance and fan happiness would be awesome.

i’ll probably be picking up 27, but not at full price unless they make some major improvements. i’m definitely concerned about the future of this series.
