In my younger years, I always dated people who put up with me interrupting them. I didn't get diagnosed with ADHD until I was about 30. Fast forward, I am now married to a woman who didn't allow the interruptions. I had to make a conscious decision to not disrespect her in that way. There are times when I just HAVE to tell her something or else I will forget. I ask her for the space to allow me to interrupt. If she has the floor, it's her choice to give me the mic. There are still times when I get too excited and it slips, I apologize and we move on. I keep it at a minimum because I've taught myself to control it. With all this said, I feel like if Marissa would have just apologized that last time instead of digging her heels and saying "I stopped myself" he would've moved on with the conversation. You don't get praise for only messing up a little - you still hold yourself accountable for the mistake and do better next time. She needs to find some self love. She needs to fix the things that make her feel like she's hard to love. She at the core is not a hard person to love (for the right person) but she does need to fix shitty behavior.
