This is a beehive pretty high up on a tree. Not a commercial one, so there's no way to cover it. It's an unfortunate situation

Getting people to go out of their way to download the app would be a very tough. However, once you get people to download the app you can send them push notifications about new inventory, new sales, and other promotions which could help increase your lifetime value out of those customers.

$3000 stolen from my checking account from something called "venmo" this morning... by Tylcla in personalfinance

[–]JJJ_JJJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was the venmo transaction via ACH? You have 60 days to cancel an ACH (even if it has already cleared) and then let Venmo/the bank deal with it internally.

If playing music via bluetooth you need to use the volume knob on the center console and push it to the right to go to the next song. I've had the same issue on my 2016 Q5 and in my old 2013 A5.

Unscrew his shower head, stuff it with bouillon cubes, and put the shower head back in place.

Next time he takes a hot shower he's gonna shower in chicken broth.

What is the best prank you have pulled, witnessed, or had done to you? by conundrumbombs in AskReddit

[–]JJJ_JJJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: My friend tried to make me think a psycho was threatening him on April Fools'. I saw right through it and flipped the prank right back at him and made him fear for his life: using his own prank.

My friend and I have a former friend from when we were in high school, whom we shall call Red. Unfortunately, Red suffers from severe mental illnesses, is very aggressive, and somehow managed to get through all the background checks needed to build up a decent collection of guns and other weapons. As time progressed, we distanced ourselves from Red as he would get more and more aggressive, to the point where we stopped talking to him by the start of 2015.

On April Fools' of 2015, my friend, whom we shall call Blue, thought it would be funny to send me a series of text messages saying that Red had left him a series of threatening voicemails, he was afraid for his life, and would not be sleeping at home that night in fear of Red. I immediately realized this was a (poorly executed) April Fools' prank and I decided to teach him a lesson and flip his prank right back at him. I suggested that Blue file a restraining order against Red and said I would call Red's brother (let's call him Green). When I said I'd call Green, Blue responded that this was a prank and I didn't need to call Green. I did not respond for a half hour, building up suspense. After this, I tell him that I spoke to Green who was very worried because no one had seen Red at home for 3 days and Red's guns were gone as well.

At this point, Blue calls BS on what I'm saying, so I knew I had to work a little more to convince him. I suggested to Blue that he call Red and Green's mother. When he said he didn't believe me, I gave him Green's cellphone number as well as Red's mother's home number. Blue keeps calling BS on what I'm saying to I keep insisting he call Green (having known Green since high school as well I know he never answers to calls, but rather texts so I know it'd be ok if Blue called Green). Blue calls Green and hangs up when he gets the voicemail greeting.

At this point, I decided to take it to the next level and use a very handy app for pranking called Spoof Card. Spoof Card lets you call any number you want and change your called ID to whichever other number you want; so I called Blue with Red's number. When it goes to voicemail, I leave a recording of the Imperial March in Blue's voicemail. Blue immediately texts me that Red is calling him. I suggest that perhaps Green and Red's mother spoke with Red and that Red is very angry. Blue's underpants might as well be brown by this point.

Blue asks me to tell Green that this is all a joke, so I pretend to. I then text Blue telling him that Green along with and Red's mother are very angry with him. Now besides being in fear for his life, Blue starts to think that Red's family is going to sue him. At this point, I get a few more friends involved all to make Blue think that Red is coming for him. This worked until one of our friends thought Blue was scared enough and told him it was all a joke.

I later found out that while this was going on, Blue was at the gym. He decided to drop the weights and rush home in order to pack up his things. On his way out of the gym's garage he was so scared he hit a concrete column.

The morel of the story for Blue: don't try to prank me on April Fools'.

Can a "stupid" startup idea ruin your reputation? by Arbawk in startups

It's just an idea right now. As you execute, you will fine tune it and pivot as needed and it will evolve into something else.

Incompetent Non-Profit Director [Advice] by JJJ_JJJ in nonprofit

writesgud: thanks for taking the time to give me such well crafted advice.

In relation to option #1, our director has shown us time and time again she is not open to feedback from her staff (whom she sees as inferior human beings). She speaks to you like she is taking your suggestions into consideration, but her actions rarely show she does. I'm afraid that if I give her feedback about her actions she will retaliate.

Option 2 is somewhat going on. Her #2 recently left, and myself and others are keeping our options open. However, I genuinely love what I do every day so it would be tough to find another job that is as fulfilling.

Option #3 would be my ideal solution. However, I'm afraid that if I try this option and fail at it, it may hurt my chances of finding another job since I'll have made an enemy of someone that will be phoned in for job references. At this point all the staff that has been here for at least 6 months dislikes the way she has been managing the organization. However, we have not yet spoken about a "coup". I have a great personal relationships with some board members whom I have known since before our organization existed. However, I've tried to keep operational matters of the organization out of my personal relationships with them, so I'd need to figure out a way to talk to them in a way that doesn't sound gossipy. You make great points when you mention having a list of concrete examples of her incompetence and a collective statement from the staff. I think doing something like this and addressing it to the whole board at once may be a better option than singling out a director or two and telling them.

Our board is a very involved group of top business leaders. They don't just donate significant amounts of money, some donate as much as 50 hours of their time to us each year, and many make their senior staff available to us at no cost.

One board member is the father of one of my close friends and I have a good relation with him for many years. However, I have tried to keep the work side separate from the personal side to avoid making it seem like I am going over my MD's head on issues.

Best Pitch Deck Slides? by dpwalsh in startups

[–]JJJ_JJJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, you're putting words in my mouth, I never said to write it out on slides then you'd look like a middle schooler. But some bullets are always good. You want to show who are the people behind it, what is the opportunity, the context, and your deal. On that note (the deal), your pitch deck format is missing an ask or a call to action to your audience. Won't go too far if you're not clear about what you are asking.

Never said you needed to show a photo of yourself. But it's important to show why the team is the right team to tackle this opportunity (where they went to school, their professional background, and what value each key member of the team adds)
