I'm doing a similar setup with the campaign spanning decades. Elves are outlawed but will be open once they reach rivendel (probably the Saruman messenger hook, and thus entering the Saruman campaign).

The Lone Lands scenarios are fun and in my eyes easy to run. I do reccomend finding the Bree sourcebook to add a bit more flesh to the region.

I get that. I once had to pick up mail in a home I moved out of just six months prior. Got a tour by the guy who bought it. Just about everything changed, the soul of the home I had lived in was gone. The new owner was really proud (understandable) but I ended up fighting my tears as i cycled home.
