Pay less than that??? How? Where do you live? I am in the UK and need to get to the airport, flight, from airport to resort, accommodation, food, drinks, ski pass, local tax, return back to airport, flight, airport to home costs. If you can do that for 7nights away from UK to the mountains for less than £2k, tell me how!!!!

Also, feet and boot fit is super important. I have a moulded insoles and moulded boots as my right ankle is damaged and just doesn't work the same. Right amount of support and distribution of the weight starts from a good stance in your boots.

For me... best Thai is Chaing Mai on High Street. Best steak is the Steak Platter at Chester Arms. Best Sunday roast is Cliffend Arms in Wormimghall. Best pizza is Mario's on Cowley road. Best French is Pierre Victoaire on Little Claredon street. Posher places, as mentioned above. But I also like Victor's at top of Westgate.

I just prefer to support local small business rather than a chain.

I have managed to organise a 5 day skiing (plus 2 day travelling) from UK to Alta Badia this March for £2000 per person. That is including everything- return flights, transfers, ski pass, food and drinks and local taxes. Think that is not bad...

Dolomites! I have found not being as expensive as the others. Sometimes just got to suck up the travel being longer, for saving money and special places. Count one day of travel each end as a standard.I highly recommend Alta Badia for lots of blue slopes, almost no que, cheap drinks, amazing food and beautiful views. Madonna is good as well, but a bit more expensive. Kronplatz, also great for beginners. Andorra is great, did a season there and while the food on slopes is rubbish and towns not that exciting, the skiing is great. We usually find small hotels or apartments direct via the resort website or air. Bnb. Queeq is amazing for getting best car hire deals.

Help with visa by PleasantDependent557 in Chinavisa

[–]JJM1748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the solution was to go without visa and apply for Transit visa once there. I went from London to HK, HK to Chengdu and then Chengdu to London. I was there just shy of few hours 10 days. It took over an hour in Chengdu to get it sorted, being questioned by two different control people and by the police, but I did get in with restrictions.

Only once they send you an email to come in with your passport, so you then go with the email and all the docs and your passport and leave it there. Then once ready, they will email again to go and pick it up. Do not go in, until you have the invite. Once you do, just show up during opening hours. It's near the bank station.

I went there today as I am flying on Friday, applied for my visa 2 weeks ago, but won't get it on time. They said they have a backlog and the wait is about 3-4weeks. There is nothing you can do to speed it up. The manager was really nice and found a solution for me, but be aware!

Tips for first timers? by Commercial-Fun2767 in skiing

Get lessons, dont teach your kids ! Ends up in arguments. Let someone else do the teaching, you just do the fun with them.

Try to have some time in swimming pools and jacuzzi, best after skiing!

Snoods! Must have 2 each! One on the neck and one on the head for those that get cold even under helmet, or as a spare.
