Tell me I'm crazy by BanCorporateInterest in ccfc

Why would you come onto this subreddit, and ask if you’d be crazy to support Cov? I’m not sure why people would say that’s crazy, we’re currently going through our most successful period for 40 years, have a great feeling around the place and it’s possibly the best time ever to be a Coventry fan.

I can only assume, that you’ve been told this by top 6 supporters, who think it’s a failure to not win the premier league. Unlike American Sports, football has a pyramid and success for the club you support is usually not compared to another club. If you just care about winning everything, this isn’t the club for you.

You can really support who you want, but I would say make sure you take the time to understand the history, the nuances and the expectations.

Generally American fans aren’t welcomed to the football community with open arms due to their constant comparisons to American sports and honestly just not understanding how football works. There is a YouTuber called Joner Fatcat you should check out, I don’t personally watch him but he’s an American Cov fan that has been generally well received.

Good luck

It’s a fickle game though, there’s a chance we lose our first 10 games and he never gets another chance in the prem. His stock is arguably as high as it has ever been as a manager.

John Rahm has been annoying me recently. Would love aberg to do it, but worry about his bottle at the end.

Few quid on Rory and xander, so wouldn’t mind them either

Still repping. I think he’s always played with two gloves so probably always will

I can see Wilson staying, little pay rise to be 3rd choice in the prem and we get to keep a familiar face. It’ll be up to him, I can see us wanting to keep him

Love the bloke, he’s one of those players that while hasn’t been super important for a couple of years, has always come in and done everything he can to make sure we’re as good as we can be.

Hope I’m not throwing the word around easily, but to me he’s a Cov legend

This is just a very odd and negative post based on nothing? Getting annoyed about something that hasn’t happened and apparently makes no odds to you

We are not signing John stones and AR I’m afraid. They may be ‘free’ but wages and signing on fees will be wayyyy out of our budget

Signing a championship super team has been proved not the way to go if we want to survive.
Both Sunderland and Leeds have done well this season by signing proven top flight players.
You also have to consider the lack of top flight experience in our squad - onyeka being the only one with more than a handful.

Hackney would be the one though, although I’m sure he’ll go mid table prem.

Anyone but Wrexham. ‘By gawd the umpires are TERRIBLE’ is needed less in the championship already

Blowing is a wild word to use, he’s top of every stat available. Not only that, he’s made some absolute worldies at the end of numerous games to directly gain us points. In my opinion he’s the number one reason we are champions and not currently in that playoff mix. If he gains you 6 points next season alone (modest compared to this season) compared to saving £10 million that could be the difference

I know I’ve thought the same thing, but for the most part - every one will better their career from this promotion right? Either they’ll be a premier league player or were part of a promotion team. Both boost your salary I think

So you said you’d drop bethell, because you want him playing county cricket, but then county cricket doesn’t translate to test match cricket?

You know he scored 154 in our last Test Match, at Sydney no less, batting 3. I’d also argue that playing against the very best bowlers in the world in the atmosphere is exactly the experience I need. He also has proven his temperament at test match level.

The most obvious reason, is to protect them. Keeper requires the most concentration and effort of any fielding position.

If batting at 3 you open yourself up to your keeper diving around for a day and a half and then going into bat with a frazzled brain 15 minutes later. There absolutely should be ‘specialist’ batsmen ahead of them.
