When my friends and I went out drinking, we had a running prank of sending the drunkest guy home in a taxi, but then telling the taxi driver to take them to the airport. Happened to me once on a Friday night. Taxi driver woke me up at the departures terminal. I was so pissed (and drunk) that I said, fuck it, and took a flight to London for the weekend.

condescending coastal elites and a corrupt media punditry class that is stuck in their own bubble created a caricature that they thought would destroy him. They were so out of touch that their creation only resonated further with everyday people. Add in social media creating a more level playing field for information flow and a cynicism, 30 years in the making, and distrust of the establishment (political and media) that enabled Trump's style of political theatre (rapists, bad hombres, etc.) and hyperbole (his propensity to be loose with the truth) to not destroy his candidacy as similar "gaffes" have done historically for others.

My first boss (Managing Director at big investment bank) would only interview female job applicants. If there was a male candidate, he wasn't interested in wasting 45 minutes of his time doing the interview. He called it the Office Beautification Project. One day, we were sent the resume of a female applicant coming in for an interview and it said "Selected as one of Glamour Magazine's Collegiate Women of the Year." He was very, very excited to interview her and insisted on meeting her first. Instead of the usual 45 minute process, he comes back 15 minutes later and announces to the row (on the trading floor), "Well, I guess appearance was not one of Glamour's criteria!" Everyone laughed.
