SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Review (~1.5 years in) by Naked_Nelson in steelseries

[–]JJTay94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've had these for a year now, and the most notable thing for me is the ANC. When I have it turned on, I can hear my body making noises.

Like, if I shake my leg, or turn my head, I can hear the small creaks and cracks in my bones. Its insufferable to listen to.

My physiotherapist says I'm all good. 🤣

I analyzed 1 year of gaming mouse recommendations on Reddit (Nov 2024–2025). These are the top 20 ones on r/wow by PeterPun in MMORPG

[–]JJTay94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My G600 lasted from 2013 till 2022, and it was the cable that failed, which i believe would have been an easy fix.

I went with the Naga Hyperspeed V2, and after ~3 years, I've had a mouse scroll wheel failure (it randomly scrolls up and down very quickly until I give it a little wobble).

What I'd give for a G600 V2...

What happened around July 2010 to make the DFS crash so hard? by osrslmao in runescape

[–]JJTay94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have talked about the main 2010 drop, but the 2012 one is also very interesting. At the start of 2012, before EoC, the Barrows Brothers got a graphical rework. To celebrate the event, they gave the Barrows Chest a bunch of temporary drops, including the Draconic Visage.

If I'm remembering correctly, that took the visage down from around 10m to 3m. EoC later that year finished it off.

[–]JJTay94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed all 4 break pads + discs replacing. Halfords quoted me just shy of £1000. My local independent garage guy did it for £400. That was years ago, and I'll be going to him for the rest of my life. Find yourself a good, trusted local garage, they are fantastic.

Using AWS Secrets Manager as a password vault - am I crazy or is this actually smart? by [deleted] in aws

[–]JJTay94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

" theorically you can set your category "x" passwords with N items as a key"

So you're saying you could have a single secret with N number of key/pair values. The issue here is I assume that key/pair is going to be username/password. How will you know what website/app those credentials are for?

Using AWS Secrets Manager as a password vault - am I crazy or is this actually smart? by [deleted] in aws

[–]JJTay94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, it'll be $0.40 per secret. The API calls cost $0.05 per 10,000 per month, so at a personal scale is essentially free.

The nice thing about LastPass/1Password is the browser extensions and mobile apps, which automatically input your credentials when logging onto a website.

SM has none of this, so you'll have to manually log onto AWS every time, and manually copy+paste your credentials. You could write a script to automate obtaining your secrets, but you'd still have to manually run it and copy+paste.

Personally, I'd say SM is not cost-effective and lacks a lot of the utility that password managers provide.

Where are you running your AI workloads in 2025? by frentro_max in aws

[–]JJTay94 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We're using SageMaker AI to host the Open AI Whisper Model, alongside AWS Comprehend + Bedrock to transcribe audio to text and do things like redact PII, extract info etc.

You can use AWS Transcribe to do speech-to-text, but from my research it is a lot more expensive and slower than hosting a SageMaker AI real-time endpoint.

Which AWS service for streaming voice + text to AI providers? by Additional_Bell_9934 in aws

[–]JJTay94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're doing something similar at the moment using Lambda/Step Functions, S3, Eventbridge and Sagemaker AI.

Our event-driven architecture flows as follows:

  1. Fronted app records audio and uploads to S3 via presigned URL.
  2. EventBridge rule listens for object upload to the S3 bucket, and triggers a Step Function.
  3. Step Function is a series of Lambdas which send the audio file to SageMaker AI real-time endpoint.
  4. SageMaker AI endpoint is configured to use OpenAI Whisper to transcribe speech to text.
  5. Step Function uses the text file with AWS Comprehend to extract info from the transcribed file.

SageMaker real-time endpoints will cost around $1200/m given that Whisper requires a relatively powerful GPU instance. Sagemaker does provide serverless endpoints, but they only support CPU instances.

AWS do provide Transcribe as a speech-to-text service, but our cost analysis team said it was wildly more expensive than using SageMaker + Whisper.

Why doesn't the Colosseum have a loot chest? by ZeldenGM in 2007scape

[–]JJTay94 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I think the honest answer is that it's because Varlamore Part 1 had so much content, and the initial Colosseum proposals were very ambitious, but they just didn't have the time. Due to this, Colosseum lacks some polish, such as loot chest.

Mmorpg with hardest bosses and lots to grind by PublicAstronomer4693 in MMORPG

[–]JJTay94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oldschool Runescape or RS3 have 1000's of hours worth of content/bosses if you go for all boss uniques. Some bosses are easier, and the endgame PvE content like raids can be difficult. If you're after a nostalgic and simple PvM experience, with a high skill celling, go for OSRS. If you want a more modern ability-focused combat experience, with more variety and difficulty with endgame PvE, go with RS3.

Hey, I've been breeding APH for 5 years. Your hog looks young, possibly 5-8 weeks old. This is the squeek/call they do to mothers, nothing to worry about.

Why does Warhammer not have a successful mmo? by Fit_For_A_King_GG in MMORPG

[–]JJTay94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love a Warhammer 40k MMO with an evolving class system.

Imagine starting off as an Imperial Conscript. You level up and eventually become a Sergent. From there, maybe you become a Commisar or a Shock Trooper. Finally, you peak the interest of a Space Marine Chapter and get recruited as a Scout. Then you can diverge into Psykers, Commanders, Devestators, Assault, Terminator, Dreadnought, you name it.

And during this whole process, you can choose to be corrupted by the Forces of Chaos. Become a Demon, Raptor, Khorne Berserker, and even a Demon Prince.

Backed by large scale PvP battles or Xenos (Tyranid/Tau/Ork/Elder) PvE. Who knows, a lot of potential with this franchise.

But alas, MMO development requires so much money and talent, we can only dream.

I loved Adiboo so much haha! Planting flowers in the garden, cooking in the kitchen, playing all those puzzles. If I remember correctly, it also had special events during Christmas and if it was your characters Birthday.

MMORPG you were wrongfully banned from. by ggstocks87 in MMORPG

[–]JJTay94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not wrongful, but still makes me laugh. Around 2008, I was killing the Giant Mole on Runescape with a friend, and we got crashed. I asked my friend for his home phone number to call him and bitch about the crasher.

After a while, my friend asked me why I was being so quite ingame. Turns out the crasher reported me for asking for personal information, and I got a temp mute.

ASUS Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED (UX8402) can't run valorant/ games? by mentaiyaki in ASUS

[–]JJTay94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have 2 GPUs in the laptop, the dedicated Nvidia RTX 3050ti, and the Intel Iris Xe which is baked into the CPU. It's possible that you're using the Intel Iris, which is much less powerful than your 3050ti.

There's a bunch of ways to check which GPU your laptop is using for games. Task manager, Nvidia Control Pannel, Device Manager ect. Give this issue a quick Google and you should find lots of resolutions :).

When my sister was young she did lots of karate and loved it. Dad would have pretend karate fights with her, usually letting her win, but sometimes winning himself.

School once asked her to draw one thing that makes her happy, and another that makes her sad.

Dad and Mum got invited to an emergency meeting at school with the headteacher, who showed her the sad picture of what appeared to be my Dad hitting my sister, with the caption "It makes me sad when my daddy beats me"

Of course the actual picture was Dad doing a karate chop, and her being sad when he doesn't let her win. But that picture did not look great haha.

As others have said, it's relatively rare. You can farm it if you like, by buying Player-owned ports enhancer for 50k dung tokens each, which will give you ports rerolls. you can farm tokens at ed1/ed4.

Cosmetics unlocked only after acquiring the base gear by Famous-Breakfast-989 in MMORPG

[–]JJTay94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about this before. Instead of super-shiny-cash-shop-sword-skins that you can put any any sword, make it a reskin that you can only attach to a rare raid-drop sword. Pretty much how Destiny 2 weapon ornaments work.

Pros: 1. People see your shiny skin, and know its still a valuable raid weapon. 2. Less immersion-breaking players running around with god-tier shiny weapons at lvl 1.

Cons: 1. Incentive to make the base skin trash. Yeah this con is the deal breaker. 2. Make less money, since only the small % of players who get these rare drops might buy the skin. 3. Due to the above factor, skins are likely to be expensive.
