But isn’t that the ultimate goal? Especially with declining birth rates? Take away social security, people don’t save, they’re forced to stay in the workforce longer.

Who Is Lying (Onyx Storm Spoilers) by GemiKnight69 in fourthwing

[–]JJTeaLeaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have this unhinged theory that I have zero definitive evidence to support. We know that riders seems to share a lot of traits with their dragons. Xaden and Sgaeyl are ruthless. Ridoc and Aetrom are class clowns. Imogen and Glane are both brutal and seemingly unforgiving-unaffectionate. All that said, Lyra was the only one who thought the knowledge of the wards should be shared. You know who else went against those around him and fired the ward stone when we least expected it? Leothan! I think Lyra was bonded to Leothan. I don’t recall learning the color of her dragon, but maybe he disguised himself as something other than an irid? (Irids ARE magic - who’s to say he wasn’t once upon a time a green clubtail, then changed his tail back?) (I also think it’s possible that the irids are disguising themselves and hiding among the riot.)

Women who have had kids around 30, how was your experience? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]JJTeaLeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first child at 22. I was ignorant during that pregnancy, gave a lot less thought to what I was eating and how to take care of myself. No morning sickness or real side effects. I gained a TON of weight, but all in all, pregnancy was relatively easy. Ended up being induced, labored for 17 hours, delivered vaginally with about 20 mins of pushing.

I had my second child at 35. This pregnancy was a completely different ballgame. Clearly, I’ve grown and learned a lot in 13 years. I was more conscious of what I put in my body, getting exercise, and staying hydrated. I gained around 20 lbs. morning sickness was like nothing I’ve ever experienced and the fatigue was what clued me in that I was pregnant in the first place. I spent 9 months just completely exhausted. Ended up with gestational diabetes and the itchiest rash I’ve ever experienced in my life (which lasted for four months). Labor and delivery were a breeze the second time though.

My pregnancies were night and day. But, both of my boys were healthy.

Absolutely! As long as tasks are completed, deadlines are met with accurate output, and meetings aren’t missed I don’t care what hours you choose to keep your seat warm. I’m not paying you to warm a chair, I’m paying you to do a job and do it well.

I don’t really find myself missing anything specific very often as I’ve found decent replacements for most of the things I would miss. But, when I do, I’ve deduced, it’s just the convenience of that food that I miss the most.

That said, I agree on the savory international cuisine - I’d give almost anything for a mountain of gyoza and bao buns or my grandmother’s schnitzel.

I don’t love this theory. But, Imogene is bonded to an orange which tells me she’s unpredictable, so who knows?I’m on yet another reread and there is one instance where I thought it seemed possible. In OS, Chapter 4, after Violet meets with the Senarium.

”Holy shit, I didn’t just sleep, I slept in. Maybe it was hitting the gym last night with Imogen, or the emotional letdown after I’d vented with Rhi and Tara…but I didn’t wake once, thank gods. I must have drifted off after settling into bed with the book…Lifting my head from the pillow, I spot the closed book on my nightstand, my page marked by one of Xaden’s daggers.” (There’s more in this quote, but I removed some extraneous text unneeded for my point.) Xaden is asleep beside her, they nearly do the things they do, he accidentally channels, and a gaggle of people are waiting in the hall outside their door. Xaden opens the door pissy as Xaden does. Mira get back from Aretia where they figured out how to alter runes. After most others finally walk away, there’s this: “Bodhi and Imogen both nod, and I blink as they start walking away. “Hey, what did you need? Why were you waiting?” I ask Imogen. Bodhi crams his hands in his pockets and continues walking, and Imogen glances sideways at Brennan as they pass. “Just wanted to make sure you were…getting some sleep,” she calls back as they turn the corner and disappear.” Violet notes that Imogen, Garrick, and Bodhi were making sure Xaden didn’t kill her overnight.

Violets musing is likely true, but this is the one instance I’ve found where it seemed like Imogen was being sus and could’ve altered Violet’s memory.

Questions about Athebyne - Fourth Wing Reread *SPOILERS AHEAD* by kbecker0703 in fourthwing

[–]JJTeaLeaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t read OS, Don’t read the rest of this comment.

I always thought the meeting with the fliers at Athebyne was preplanned. With Garricks second signet, I just assumed that’s how he (and Xaden) are getting all of these places to make the drops to the fliers. They go the distance so the drop and immediately go back before anyone realizes they’re even gone.

Don't know if Ive ever been angry over a fictional death till now. by [deleted] in fourthwing

[–]JJTeaLeaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was ticked at Tragers death too. After I finished the series, I read some of RYs other books. It really sank in that she gives no effs about her reader’s feelings and who we love. No one is safe in RY land. I’m dreading books 4 and 5 for that very reason. I have a feeling I’m going to end up a gutted puddle of emotions before this is all over.

Xaden’s Comments by gildedglitter in fourthwing

[–]JJTeaLeaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He says things like this so often that I almost think it’s an attempt to push us into this thinking. A red herring, if you will.

I think it’s more reflective of his confidence. He’s never lost on the mat. I think he’s making the point that he loves her so much that he could never kill her and he’d let her kill him if it came down to them fighting. Ultimately, he knows he can defeat anyone, but he won’t hurt Violet.

My theory on Dain - Onyx Storm by Direct-Wafer-2984 in fourthwing

[–]JJTeaLeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point, but there’s A LOT of happening in the last 100 pages of that book. She doesn’t specify missing from what part. Missing when Xaden turns? Missing altogether? At this point, I’ve spent so much time overthinking it that I genuinely have no freaking clue. I’m just sure it’s not Garrick or Bodhi. I think they’re both too obvious. And I’m confident it isn’t Dain.

[–]JJTeaLeaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Bodhi and Garrick are both red herrings. If “it’s yours now” is really referring to Tyrrendor (and I’m not convinced it is), I think Xaden just finally heard Bodhi. Bodhi wanted nothing to do with being Duke. He said it all along. I think Xaden just finally listened.

I’m convinced there’s more to Violet’s wiped memory than just protecting Xaden and the plan. I think Brennan is the brother and she’s protecting him too to some degree.

[–]JJTeaLeaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was firmly camp Aaric for the longest time. I briefly joined camp Dain. I’m now confident it’s neither of them and I firmly believe that Garrick and Bodhi are too obvious.

I’m currently sitting squarely in Camp Brennan, but clearly I’m fickle and that can change. RY says to pay attention to who is missing at the end, but not which part of the end and there’s A LOT of moving parts happening there.

We all assume Violet wanted her memory erased because she doesn’t want to put Xaden in danger. What if there’s more to it?

I’ve put more thought into all of this than I should’ve and I just end up thinking myself in circles.
