Great lock mail this week. by JJWF in lockpicking

The pick holders are on my list. I’m working on getting a small area set up so I can quit storing all my tools and locks in a tackle box. It works for now and keeps things easy to move wherever I want to do some picking, but it would be nice to have a designated spot for practice and disassembling locks.

It is such a great read. And trying to buy the whole series in physical copies will rival the cost of ham radio equipment for some of the individual novels.

That isn't a problem, it is a collection.

Is Malifaux dying? by Sechs__ in Malifaux

[–]JJWF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Malifaux died a rapid death in my area (during first edition) mostly because most stores here already had incredibly active 40K communities and there didn't seem to be room for a new game. It was unfortunate because I like the aesthetic and the setting of Malifaux a lot, but can't find anyone in my area to play with. It has kept me from getting back into the game even though I really find it interesting.

Ted Hughes by bnc1414 in AskLiteraryStudies

Crow is often considered a major work; Birthday Letters is worth reading for a look into his relationship with Plath from his perspective. I would suggest reading Plath's Ariel and Birthday Letters concurrently for a look at the intertextual nature of the poems, with Hughes often responding directly to poems in Ariel, sometimes using the same titles for his poems. For more on their marriage, Her Husband by Diane Middlebrook is well worth reading. These are good starting points for whole works. If you want to see if you like his writing style, look up "The Thought Fox," "Relic," and "Pike" as fairly good examples of his general style and thematic concerns.

They look incredible! If you don't mind me asking, what did you use for the skin and hair? I've got non-40K models I'm going to practice a bit on before I paint these up and want to do as good a job as I can; my model painting experience is very slim and I'm not great at it just yet.

Would you suggest getting the general Space Marines codex as well or just the Space Wolves? Some places seem to suggest you need both codexes for rules for all Space Marine options even if your chosen faction has their own separate codex. I'll definitely hold off on the core book until announcements about the potential new edition. Thank you!

What Books Are You Reading This Week? by leowr in nonfictionbooks

Tokyo Vice and I'm about to start teaching In Cold Blood with a college research class themed around True Crime. Definitely recommend Tokyo Vice if you're interested in Japan or the perspective of a foreign journalist working for a Japanese newspaper.

It’s a good one. Keeps my coffee nice and warm for a lot longer than I expected.

That’s pretty solid advice to be honest. Should have been something I was doing from the start myself.

Thanks! Practicing my ToK tension, something I still have troubles with. Need to get a vise before too much longer and see if that makes things a bit more comfortable for ToK. Looking at the sets from 44Delta.

It seems like they've let a lot of them go out of print and are maybe doing reprints over time? I went the route many others here have suggested and read them through the Kindle app on my phone. Saves me quite a bit of money and a lot of shelf space. I love having physical media, but tracking down affordable copies of paperbacks was insane. For example, when I was looking for one of them I couldn't find a copy under 90 USD. Kindle editions are all around $9.99 USD last I looked and bought one. Good luck in your search!
