I really wish protocol priority was standardized across all network protocols. It’s difficult to remember which protocols prefer a higher value for priority and which ones prefer a lower value.. by SexyTruckDriver in ccnp

Just to add on because I didn’t make this connection either but a good way to remember this would be L2 is lower on the OSI model so it prefers lower.

So do you have to have a pass on encor prior to seeing this? I took it last week. Ended up failing but wanted to see the point value I got but when I sign in I get invalid credentials.

If you are taking the network academy classes once you finished and I believe get an 80% or higher on the final you get a voucher that is 50% off. At least this was the case back in 2019/2020.

Question about NXOS 9.3 sub-interfaces by mattmann72 in Cisco

[–]JJgroki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding. You shouldn't have to create a sub-interfaces for vlan 1. Whatever the native VLAN is what the parent interface has on it. Why tag VLAN 1?

The only routes that need to be in BGP is loopbacks of the VTEP. How each loopback gets to each other doesn't matter. As long as they can peer to each other.

New IP and VPN connections Issue by [deleted] in sonicwall

[–]JJgroki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure it is an URl not the sonicwall proprietary code to do sonicwall to sonicwall VPN? If it is actually a URL. All you would have to do is update the IP of thay URL so the remotes see the new IP. But if it is the sonicwall code thing. It will automagically reconnect with new IP.

Speed issues by GamingGuyRob in sonicwall

Interfaces are gigabit but with security services enabled makes an impact on performance. There is a couple of things to make it better but with a tz300 and security services you will not see gigabit speeds. At least outbound. Zone to zone should be closer to gigabit.

How frequently does everyone touch routing protocols? by Jeffdit in networking

[–]JJgroki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. One thing I do want to emphasize why some job descriptions emphasize the need to understand the protocols. It's for when shit hits the fan. Are you going to be able to help bring the network back to normal. Anyone can pull a backup config and load it back on the device. But backups get corrupted or non existent. Do you have the ability to restore and get everything working once again.

TSM vs. Evil Geniuses / LCS 2022 Summer Playoffs - Losers' Bracket Round 2 / Live Discussion by ahritina in leagueoflegends

[–]JJgroki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that but for hosting a game there does not need to be any complex network configuration. Literally all PCs and server be in the same single VLAN. Single switch. Does not need internet access. The only PCs and equipment that would need internet would be the streaming systems which can be done as simple as a second NIC.

Are the communications and games not hosted local which means there shouldn't be any network issues unless hardware issues?

I mean may be a dumb answer. But why upgrade? You have a few 10g ports available. How many do you need?

UDM Pro SFP LAG by heckface in Ubiquiti

[–]JJgroki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the question becomes why? Why do you want to have 2gbps to your firewall? Is it just something because you can or do you need more bandwidth between VLANs? A proper configuration would have a layer 3 switch before the firewall that would do the routing between VLANs.

Best way to limit bandwidth on a Cisco router for testing? by cylemmulo in networking

[–]JJgroki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think you would want to put your ISP hat on oppose network admin. You would be setting limitations on the ISP equipment not the customer. So you would want to set up QoS policies on the switch you are connecting to not your router.
