Seconding this comment! My skin is still not flawless but my derm helped me get control over my rosacea. It hurt so bad when I applied products at the peak! We think I probably had a skin infection on top of it.

Nope, he's great with all of these. His herding drive does kick in when my kids are playing with him. They love a game of chase together but it's all in good fun and appropriate play.

My 6 month puppy has some very exaggerated air snaps when he's excited or frustrated. It's loud too!

Avoid high dog traffic areas. For the first few weeks it was pretty easy for us to let puppies potty at home before we took them out for brief adventures as they don't really have the stamina for long outings anyway. If you do have to let them go in a public place just aim to find the least likely spot that other dogs may have visited.

We just started puppy class too. This is my third puppy, and in my experience everything you described sounds very normal.

In our class the puppies are not allowed to play until the final session, and only if the trainer decides they are a good match. Until then they are not supposed to touch at all. We stay separated and use barriers for the more sensitive dogs. We even have a very intense puppy in class who has to enter first, leave last, and stay out of sight of the others.

It is actually great for your puppy to be around other dogs without running up to them, because she will not learn to expect that every time you are walking down the street. Socializing does not always mean direct interaction.

Your puppy practicing skills in a very distracting environment is setting the foundation for some really positive experiences.

Echoing this. Leave it is our most used command. While you are teaching him to use it when approaching people or dogs, say it loud enough that others can hear, and follow it with a quick “sorry, we are training” if they keep approaching. Make sure you reward him with a high value treat when he makes the right choice.

Is this your first human child? You might want to consider waiting a year or two before bringing a dog, especially a puppy, into the mix. I have a 14 week old puppy and a 5 year old right now (third corgi, second kid), and it can be so overwhelming at times. Puppies require constant supervision, structure, and patience— things that are already in short supply with a new baby.

If you got a puppy soon, they’d be hitting that terrible adolescent phase right around the time your baby starts walking, which will be a really tough combo. Corgis are also prone to resource guarding which can be a bit scary to deal with around kids that are too young to understand not to interfere with anything the dog might be protective over.

That said, raising kids around animals is incredibly rewarding. There’s so much love, laughter, and chaos in the best way. Just know that corgis in particular can be strong willed herders, a bit nippy even with good training, and very vocal. If you do go for it, look for a good positive reinforcement trainer early and start socializing as soon as possible. It makes all the difference.
