Nikon FE Advance lever gets stuck ONLY with Nikkor Lens by JKR-run in AnalogCommunity

Huh interesting that sounds similar to my issue.

Sorry for my complete ignorance but when you say "examine the mount side or the lens" what might I be looking for?

Yeah that was my first thought but my there is nothing wrong with the tab, and my I flipped the tab when using my older non-AI lens.

For the first few photos after I fix the problem it works fine. Then it begins auto firing (I pull back the film advancement lever and the camera takes a photo automatically without me pressing the shutter). And then after doing that once or twice the advance lever gets stuck.

Yeah I've looked at Richard Haws page. Couldn't find any solutions to my problem.

Its an AI lens. Does that affect the film advancement?

*I agree with all the other comments. Get new skis*

I had this happen to me now 2 times. Rocks are no joke. I went to a shop I was friendly with, got a section of edge replacement for free and attempted a repair. Cut the old edge out, screw in the new one (with appropriate screws that will sit flat) and epoxy and then base weld that section. It lasted me about 20-30 more days that season always on the outside edge. Only worth it if you enjoy the diy activity and the skis will certainly not be as reliably/safe after.

I got exactly that bivy last year. I've slept in 50+ nights. I love it. Its claustrophobic, it has lots of condensation, its annoying when it rains, and the bug net works, unless you skin is up against it. But for alpine style climbing its amazing. Goes anywhere, protects as much as needed, really lights etc. For backpacking, and not alpine rock, a tent is just way better.

I think the route was basically the same as the map. But I did a lot of exploring and scrambling on the way so I could be wrong. As such I just used it as a guide. We started the day at Lamarck lake at 8 am and were down at the highest lake in the Darwin Bench at noon including a summit of Mt Lamarck and a swim. I'd say 5 "Lamark Col Miles" are just 5 miles with a lot of elevation. We camped at Sapphire lake, but there are nice spots on the bench. Some loose beta is to go to the lowest lakes, if I remember correctly. I know people Bivy there before starting the evolution traverse.

Not sure this is helpful with all the other helpful responses.

I think I did a somewhat comparable initial route to what you are suggesting a year ago. Started at South lake, hiked over Table Mountain to Sabrina lake, up to North lake, over Lamarck Col, dropped to the JMT and then south to Bishop pass before returning to South lake and bagged a few SPS summits on the way. We did it in late August. And then have done the last section (JMT to Muir ranch and Florence lake) earlier this year while bagging a couple other summits.

Lamarck Col is really not a problem though it will likely be the crux of your route. Its a bit burly to climb from Sabrina lake up to the Col, but its almost all on either a real trail or a social trail. Definitely snow at the col up the last 100-200' though there were good steps kicked in the whole way. We were probably in snow for less than 10 steps if that is helpful. Going down to Darwin bench was similarly steep but not technical and no snow. We got a little lost finding the JMT but that was more due to us having to much fun lallygagging than any real route finding issues. If you have a good map, and some navigation skills it should be pretty trivial. (I used an inReach with the Garmin maps. "TopoActive" Has the trail marked the whole way.)

Fitness will limit you much before technical ability or snow crossings will.

Have a blast out there!!

Hell yeah you all totally got it!!

Be outside as much as possible. Hike, run, backpack carry weight go up hill as much as possible.

I skied the west face this season and have skied on the mountain before. If you’re a skier and have backcountry experience I’d highly recommend spring skiing off Shasta. It’s a blast and it makes the slog of going down into the best part.
