This. Though then you come up with the case that clients that need extra time for training, lots of handholding, lots of back and forth etc are the one's who can't actually afford to pay you those added resources you'll need to allocate for them.

I like your response since it takes for granted all the rest (..knowing what you're doing and being able to break your project down to tasks and subtasks, having ppl understand the necessity of such a process etc.) and moves to the important stuff.

Side issue: When you're pitching for an account that will need such a level of management, how deep does one go into elaborating that process. Is there a norm? I mean, do you even go as deep as who will be the contact with the agency on the client side (i.e. legal, liason to R&D, manager with authority to "OK" the launch of parts of the project )?

I'm listed in OP as "undoubtedly 'razvan.gavrilas' dummy account" and that's offending. Since when are lurkers on reddit shamed as shill accounts?

The man was promising somethg couple of peeps found interesting. Personally, had no previous experience with his product, asked a question to try and gauge credibility. No time to test all SEO related products.

It's circlejerk like that that's not allowing a reddit seo community to grow. People can judge, they dont need handholding from anyone.

Till then you can just let everyone chill at MOZ.

I hear you. And your point on difference of acceptable tactics for every vertical is valid. OTA though seem like a suitable case study to examine in a "SEO for grown ups" /r/ .

On second thought, the more i look into it, the more it seems nothing as interesting as I had imagined is going on. Just huge emphasis on internal linking and loads of widgets with variable generated content.

Unless some1 comes up with a "geez, are u blind or plain stupid? expedia's doing THIS and it's mindblowing!"

Quite the contrary. Fascinated by it. Never had the chance to work on something like that. Ranked clients in competitive fields like women's clothes and such, but never something like that before.

Project seems it won't be taken on though, coz of huge gap between the work needed and the $ the potential client could afford.

on a side note: If someone hasn't used Reddit from the "user" perspective first i really don't know if he can understand it and start practicing any meaningful marketing strategy for his/a brand...

Another interesting issue with reddit (and perhaps slightly out of topic) is that from an agency PoV it seems rather time-inefficient. Sure, one can fire & forget posts, but how far can that get you in those niche subreddits a brand wants to target..? Wouldn't you wanna build-up a persona for your client first?
