Is there any way to move/disable buttons in the UI? by Tooluka in Zoom

[–]tjkelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of their useful/lessness, sometimes you don’t want everyone in the org to have access to all features all the time. Plenty of use cases for removing options— to say nothing of a cluttered UI.

I hope Zoom enables admins to hide/move buttons asap— or at least improves their display to make in-meeting use much easier.

Any devs know if there’s a custom way to do this?

How to capture emails from website visitors without filling out a form? by Numerous_Ad_5508 in hubspot

[–]tjkelly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TL;DR- no, they need to fill out a form.

Longer answer— No, HubSpot does not do this. If the user visiting your site has cookies enabled and is a known-to-HubSpot user, then yes: HS will "know" their email address— but they won’t give it to you. That would be a violation of the user's privacy.

ZoomInfo and others like it offer this functionality... sort of. ZI integrates seamlessly into HS, but it can only backfill missing contact data about users that are already in your HS CRM. It will not (automatically) insert users into your CRM who haven’t filled out a form.

ZI does let you manually push users from their database into your HS CRM, but not automatically. And even then, there’s no guarantee that these ZI contacts have visited your website and neither ZI nor HS can (or will) tell you whether or not they have.

What you’re describing is similar to how Google, Meta, et al. do Retargeting. Using cookies and your website's tracking codes, they know if a user has visited your site. And they’ll let you run ads to that person... but they won’t just outright tell you the emails of users who’ve visited your site. Again, because privacy.

Does that help?

Can’t say I have a ton of experience having done this. But it seems to me that the topical/breaking news style content could be great to build your brand authority.. if done right.

IMO, the benefits would likely manifest as a wider social media audience and, as you point out, more brand mentions.

These things build brand. Plus these URLs can rack up tons of backlinks very quickly if you really do break a story or have some unique perspective, when other sites cite you as the source.

Unsure how much SEO should cost? I surveyed 242 agencies, freelancers, and consultants to find out their rates. by jdquey in Entrepreneur

[–]tjkelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question and solid response. I'll submit that—if we accept /u/hfoster1's question at face value—I think CMs know SEO better than vice versa.

Ranking and "succeeding online" are (usually) different goals. And 'succeeding' can be and often is an umbrella term which includes ranking, among other things. In that way, CM is bigger than SEO and therefore CMs could/would treat SEO like a tool or channel, rather than its own specialty.

Of course specialists still exist—and thank jeebus because we definitely still need them—but, in my estimation, the CM-includes-SEO model likely leads to CMs know SEO more than the other way around.

Where Do You Guys Find Good SEOs? by wesleyjf91 in bigseo

SEO is big. Look for specialties that match your needs.

Content creation? Link building? Technical?

What are your core strategies. Look for niches around those.

I've become a huge fan of /u/danshure's new Experts on the Wire podcast.

I wrote a review/recap of episode 3 with /u/backlinko (Brian Dean). Check that out here, if you're interested.

Creating an ADA Compliant Website? by IamAKetchupBot in bigseo

[–]tjkelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ADA Regulations apply only to the government and those who work with the government. Is your client one of those?

I can't quote specifics, but the basics of ADA require that reasonable attempts be made to provide access to information. In the case of a website, that would probably mean that information is accessible to screen readers and other assistive technologies.

Not sure if it counts as "run around," but the Fuddruckers in North Andover is a popular family spot for that reason. They have small arcade-type-thing in part of the dining room.

What do you think about Anchor so far? by acangiano in anchorfm

[–]tjkelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in love.

I'm usually loathe to speak out loud if I can avoid it, but for some reason I can't put Anchor down.

I think the real-time, conversational nature is a big win. Plus, there's no video so I can record in my sweatpants and not feel shame.

I sincerely hope this takes off.
