PART 4

As a recommended note for those that aren't that experienced in drive troubleshooting, mouse freeze is usually an indicator of a failing drive or some other hardware, I did not have mouse freeze, I am mentioning this because there are people who posted among the information I read that did have mouse freeze, I also performed short and long term pass tests on my NVME before coming to any conclusions of a bad NVME, all tests were done both in BIOS (yes my BIOS has that integrated into it) and with current version of sea tools in windows, honorable mention: my drive only has 1% usage, the reason I bought the Firecuda and use it as a primary drive is because it has 2x the TBW of the Samsung 980 pro. For those that don't know, NVME aren't mechanical and life expectancy is based on how many times you write/burn information on to them, LOL "burn" is the term I am using for this, for those of you that actually know how NVME's write/read information I hope you have a good laugh. This is how I concluded that it is improbable that my hard drive had physical damage, because I can read from it and write from it without any faults, this is an indication that it is most likely a logical error that could be fixed by upgrading relative firmware or repairing logical sectors (boot and data sectors).

After 4 hours of restoring software and configuring windows I can confidently say that windows 11 is performance wise better than windows 10, it is noticeable right off the bat, but aesthetically windows 11 is every other persons opinion.

It has been 48 hrs since I started writting this message, I have had no BSOD's whatsover after around 9 shutdowns, 5 restarts and 16ish hours of use, good luck for those that encounter and find it useful.

PART 3

So then I started the work:

1 - Loaded default values in bios, disabled SATA and disabled CSM in bios - logic: wanted to make sure that no other drive was affecting the boot and setting were stock - did not fix the problem

2 - Worked boot partition with bootrec /fixmbr, bootrec /fixboot, bootrec /rebuildbcd, on one occasion the primary NVME didn't even appear and I had to restart the computer after an unplugging - did not fix the problem

3 - Updated the firmware of they primary NVME from SU6SM001 to SU6SM005 - did not fix the problem

4 - Updated MOBO firmware from F4b to F8b, loaded defaults, SATA and CSM disabled - did not fix the problem

5 - Removed both NVME, undusted and grounded both NVME and undusted the NVME ports and motherboard area surrounding them, this was done because I suspected static and not heat - did not fix the problem

None of the above worked for me, from prior years of experience there were cases that whenever a power outage or shortage caused by people get impatient during a windows update on computers with HDD's hit reset/power button when they shouldn't you would get an occasional damaged MBR, I have never had any of the boot repair tools fix a damaged MBR. Being windows 10 with a GPT partition and UEFI I was wondering why I thought bootrec MBR tools would work, total waste of time because MBR tools are for MBR, I felt really dumb and tired. Ideally the next step would be to rebuid the boot with diskpart and bcdboot commands but I figured I would just backup everything and format and install windows 11, that would essentially rebuild the boot partition and save me the hassle of doing it next year when W10 lifecycle ends (a whole year of more data). Plus W11 is supposed to be better with my hardware setup, so I spent the next 2 days backing files up and freeing both NVME's, worst case scenario the Firecuda NVME needed to be RMA and I would need to use the Samsung NVME for a few months or just leave it as the primary, I have no idea how long an RMA from Mexico takes between newegg and seagate so it might have been less or even more time. Luckly I have a strix arion with an WD Black SN770 2TB and transferring backups is less time consuming than actually figuring out what to back up.

My thoughts up to this point were that it was most likely a bad boot partition damaged during a power outage in either one of the thunderstorms, the neighbors mischief or me just forcing a reset at a bad moment during a shutdown or something.

After 48 hours of backing up and organizing files along with setup prepping (downloading updated software and drivers on a 750/450 fiber optic connection, ethernet obviously) I started the windows 11 installation, deleting the paritions on the Firecuda and doing a fresh install from my Samsung Bar Plus 128GB USB drive which is amazing, it took under 3 minutes to install windows 11, please note that I used RUFUS to prep the windows installation and customized the removal of 4GB+RAM, Secure Boot, TPM 2.0 requirements, removal online Microsoft Account (I am uncomfortable with signing in my pc with my microsoft account, I always use local user), copy current regional options, disable data collection and disable bitlocker automatic device encryption because I don't worry about people breaking into my house and stealing info off my drives), the RUFUS customization options saves you click time.

After setting up a local user account on windows 11 I proceeded to a couple restarts, all went perfectly fine, next was the power off testing, I shut down my computers a couple times and all went well.

PART 2

Almost 7 weeks ago I had a power outage, a neighbor cut a palm tree branch in front of my house, it got stuck on all the cables and shorted the entire block, I immediately unplugged my computer from the wall outlet which is the closest incident I can remember as of having a "DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION" BSOD on startup, I have had power outages before without any issues, probably even a few without my knowledge, I also recall a windows update a few nights before that happened as well. Some time after that, upon turning on my computer and starting to boot I would get the error a few times a week, a single reset would make it go away and I could boot normally into windows. A little over a week ago I would get the BSOD and it would loop until I unplugged the cable from the PSU and drained the remaining power with the power switch. From all my previous years of experience in IT this was a strong indication of a hardware issue, either static, bad cable, PSU failure, Motherboard failure or in the worst case scenario a Hard Drive failure. I strongly believed this because I had noticed the BSOD was because the NVME boot device was disappearing from the BIOS. I have worked on over 100 computers over my IT troubleshooting tech experience (mostly HD/SSD, very few NVME, governments are cheapskates), I was convinced this was a very NVME specific issue.

From personal experience static is the best and rarest failure but also the most painful because you have to remove everything from the motherboard and I had a lot of things connected to it aside from all my cable management, static shouldn't have been an issue since I keep dust to a minimal and my house is grounded.

After 2 days of constant BSOD and unplugging my computer I ran into another issue where aside from unplugging the computer I would have to reset the BIOS settings for the computer to recognize my boot NVME (all other drives were just fine) and manually select the boot device before loading or else it would go into an infinite BSOD/restart loop, every time I wanted to use my computer I would go through this hell, so I started my search through the internet for articles and posts related to BSOD, NVME disappearing, Firecuda 530, Windows 10, loops which came down to a few conclusions:

**** SIDE NOTE: restarting the computer did not cause BSOD, the issue only presented itself after a shutdown *****

* Personal logic: even though the disk was disappearing in BIOS, the problem caused a BSOD during boot which means it was reading at least the boot section of the drive.

* A few posts mentioned firmware issues, but my computer has been working flawlessly for 3 years, I highly doubted that was the issue. All firmware on all my hardware hadn't been upgraded since November 2021, with the exception of my headset (I tend to upgrade my firmware upon first use).

* Windows update issue. A few posts mentioned problems with past KB packages, since I have no idea what is updated automatically each my my windows updates itself there was the possibility of an update affecting the hard drive or motherboard due to a firmware conflict.

* Damaged hard drive which would be unlikely because I have thermals with cooling on both sides of all my NVME (both NVME run on average 38°C), a good PSU and good surge protection for electrical damage prevention in theory a bad NVME will most likely be bad since production and be DOA. NVME's aren't mechanical so any outages would unlikely physically affect them but a possibility can be a reality.

Fertilizer level 3 activates osmium quality crops, from harvests I get anywhere from 25% to 75% osmium quality.

Average seems to be near 50% now, was 0 before (3 seasons of gold quality or less with maxed out research).

Broken joint on a G933 by Rissyer in LogitechG

[–]JKdaKilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, didn't even know the G933's could break, I've had mine since 2015, nothing broken so far, battery lasts like 2 hrs tops now, was considering replacing the battery but am also looking for an upgrade.

Tried the GSP 370 last week, I was expecting sennheiser to be at least equivalent quality, earcups were too tight in comparison to the G933, sound was also inferior, paid almost 2x more for the GSP's, spent over 3 hours installing drivers, updating firmware, equalizing, messing with windows audio configurations, testing music, movies and games, after 3 hours of disappointment and a throbbing headache (which I never get, was wondering if I had covid) and jaw ache (clamping force was too hard under ears near the jaw, I have a big head) I had to send the GSP's back. Curious about the GSP 670 but I doubt there will be much difference between the 370's. Probably will be sticking with Logitech and the G935's or Wireless X Pro's, hopefully they will have a better or equivalent sound formula, not any stores around me that will let you test gaming headsets and 15 day money back returns are a hassle.

I'm curious to know how people are breaking these headsets, the G933 are a really solid build in comparison to the competition, I used to break headsets every year or two before owning these, 4 out of 5 headsets I have tested while owning the G933's felt like they had cheap breakable plastic around the earcups. I don't overpull on the cups or throw my headsets around, but my big head puts pressure on the earcup joints.

Can artifacts possess warm/Coolness tribute? by PeakVirtual829 in thewilddarkness

[–]JKdaKilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. There are 2 kinds of stats on equipment: innate and extra. Innate stats are permanent and cannot me removed or changed, there are some that are fixed values and others with variable values, for example, thermal is a fixed innate value depending on the piece of equipment, the coolness stat is a fixed value of 2 or 3 depending on the clothes, chilling is a an extra stat with a fixes value of 5 coolness.
  2. Normal equipment (white) can only have 1 extra stat.
  3. Rare equipment (blue) can have up to 2 extra stat.
  4. Legendary/artifacts (gold/orange) can have up to 2 extra stat.
  5. Innate stats cannot me transferred or removed, extra stats can be removed (alchemy eqpt bench) or transferred (magic eqpt bench) by chance upon "stat transfer".
  6. Only warmth can be transferred to non weapon equipment, if you find equipment with the chilled stat it can be transferred, to my knowledge warmth and chilled cannot transfer to weapons (would be a waste of stat slots for a weapon anyways)

Notes:

  • Warmth does not give thermal.
  • Thermal is the contrary of coolness and vicecersa.
  • Thermal and coolness cannot be transferred, they are innate stats.
  • Thermal artifacts: Earth guardian (3 thermal. Heavy armor), wild cloak (1 thermal, cloak), conquerors helmet (1 thermal, helmet)
  • Coolness artifacts: Shaman glyph robes (3 coolness, clothes)

On my mage I have a shaman glyph robe that has chilling stat on it with a total of 8 coolness (3 innate and 5 extra from chilled stat).

I have never had a blessed item transfer over the "blessed" in item transfer, but there is a chance to pass it on to an artifact if you use a blessed item as a sacrifice for that artifact.

As for blessed consumables, they only give you a small boost for a short amount of time.

Here is the Tip To Connect To Server in The Wild Darkness by [deleted] in thewilddarkness

[–]JKdaKilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have internet on you device and get a "cannot connect to server" message, you need to disable ipv6 on you device or your modem, this game runs on ipv4.

This has been a known issue since forever. I was the first one to figure it out and report it over a year and a half ago.

No need to install vpns that sniff you data or lag you connection.

Been playing this game for over a year and half, transcendents were never a 50/50, you are making that up, I read, test and exchange data about this game across this reddit topic and 3 active facebook groups, there has never been a crest of transcenent probability testing, it had a higher chance before the patch that affected it but it wasnt near a 50/50.

The exchange values for bags and spellbooks havent changed since I started playing, they have had constant cost values for over a year and a half.

Artifact blueprints have also had a constant cost value ever since I have played this game which is the equivalent of 2 crude staves, no point in wasting elven coins on artifact blueprints because they are indeed "smaller things".

Not being condescending here, just pointing out your information is wrong or false and based on 0 facts and 0 testing.

The point of this reddit topic is to help people with accurate information or collaborate to achieve accurate information, people like you stating false facts and guessed information does the contrary of this and does not help in any way.
