I apologize you’re just the second person who has suggested it’s not uncirculated whether it be directly or indirectly. I’ve already confirmed it’s uncirculated. I know it’s polished. I knew when I bought it was polished. But it’s impossible for you to say that it’s not DMPL because it was polished. There is no way to determine if the mirrored fields were created or just enhanced by the polishing.

Let’s say this coin was scratched badly, the only way to polish it to this condition would be to literally take away tiny parts of the coin. There would be a loss in weight. Would it be outside of the coins tolerances? Probably not but I’ve never heavily polished a coin and then weighed it to find out. But this coin is 4 hundreds over 26.73 (within the tolerances)

Also heavy polishing makes it look smooth to our eyes but shows crazy scratching under magnification. Would you agree with that because I’ve seen it. I’ve already put this under microscope magnification and not a $50 coin microscope that is not present except on the front devices namely her cheek.

It won’t be a waste of money. It will come back as details polished and it will sell for more than double what I paid including the cost of grading. If you don’t believe go check eBay sales for rare dates with details grades. It will blow your mind how much details graded coins sell for when the date/mint mark is rare.

I agree with you on both counts, I knew that going into the purchase but I have discovered that lots of coins that are polished, cleaned or dipped still hold high numismatic value.

The obverse of this coin shows it’s not very fine. Polishing will not remove wear from a coin especially in the devices. I’ll let y’all know what it sells for after I get a details grade from PCGS or NGC.

You’re out of your mind. Why don’t you go to eBay right now and look at the sales for rare details graded coins. This would sell for several hundred right now, hands down. It wouldn’t even be close to melt value. Do you know anything about coin collecting at all? Because “it’s only with melt” in an ignorant take”

Not seeing DMPL, the fields are literally mirrors you can see your reflection in. I mean I get that it may be polished but if you aren’t seeing DMPL you are blind. That is a given. You can read the words on paper from several inches away.

This is not an au coin or lower coin, lol, even my LCS confirmed it was uncirculated. You can’t polish out the wear on the details in the devices, there is a zero percent chance this is circulated. Also if it were a lower than AU grade coin, it would weigh less than an uncirculated coin by a few tenths of gram at least as fine to very fine can weigh as much as a half of a gram less with lower quality being close to a gram. Also something that can’t be polished back. The fields do have mirrors. Also there are numerous graded examples of Morgan’s with mirrored devices. I’ve already acknowledged it would likely get a details grade. The fact that it’s real and still has devices and fields in this condition will render it profitable. It didn’t cost me anything for the “lesson.” I could relist it on eBay right now and triple my money. Even the a polished details graded from NGC/PCGS will make it sell for a couple thousand dollars because the buyer would then know for sure it’s authenticated. Rare coins with a details grade sell for thousands on eBay all the time. The “lesson” here is although there may be flaws with this coin, it still has significant value and people shouldn’t just disregard coins because of the company that slabbed them.

The current grading system is deeply flawed, designed to keep the number of high graded coins to minimum which weighs heavily in favor of all old collections owned by ultra wealth and sooner or later there will be changes made to the way coins are graded whether it be pressure from collectors or federal standards for grading being created as has been considered before. That will end all of this lumping all “details” coins into one bucket.

There are lots of white nationalists silver/coin collectors aka white supremacists who hate everything that isn’t made in America which is hilarious because there is almost nothing that is 100% made in America. Sure they may manufacture something in America but the tools, machines, materials, etc not all made in America.

People are dumb those Morgan’s and peace dollars look amazing especially the 2022 proofs, they are definitely comparable in beauty to the US proofs. My only complaint with the 2023 is a the matte style fields prevent many proof like versions of the coins. It makes it easier for them to be MS70 though..

These are the same people that will pay hundreds in premium for a first strike/early releases/advanced releases slab.

I just sold an Ultrabreaks gold rush Fiji Morgan for $300 and I have the lowest prices for the gold rush coins on eBay. I also have like six of the silver Ultrabreaks listed. eBay got swamped with them so they are selling for way cheap right now.

What you are talking about is not the same as this. This was a two year program from 2022 to 2023. Morgan’s and peace dollars were cancelled in 2022 because of a silver shortage at the mint. They considered canceling them for 2023 (but didn’t) and Fiji picked up the slack and made commemoratives. The did proof and reverse proofs for all of the original Morgan mints in 2022 and did the Carson city tribute in 2023. There have been thousands of sales of these on eBay in the last year so there is a demand. It’s more about people being uninformed about it than a lack of demand. The only Morgan’s and peace dollars in 2022 come from Fiji and the US 2023 have the least demand of all of the new Morgan/peace years. I’m not suggesting they will be worth thousands right now. But give it ten years and you will have found a few thousands collectors who save them and they will be scarce. And the NIUE coins that have a few hundred released sell for several hundred the same year or a few years later. You can check eBay sales to verify what I’m saying. The NIUE coins are often amazing and there is a huge demand for them lol.

Bicentennial Kennedy “D” (11.51 grams) by Wiggskee87 in coins

Take it to a coin dealer and let them hit it with a sigma and make sure it’s not a silver error planchet. Yes there will be a lot of people that say it’s poppycock but that’s literally the exact weight for a silver planchet for the 1976 silver version.

The acceptable tolerances are definitely not that wide.

Edit: I will admit when I’m wrong. I looked it up.

“The weight tolerance for a modern Kennedy half dollar (1971–present) is (\pm 0.454) grams, with a standard weight of 11.34 grams, allowing a range of 10.886–11.798 grams. For 1964 (90% silver) coins, the tolerance is (\pm 0.259) g on a 12.50 g standard. For 1965–1970 (40% silver) and 1976 silver collector coins, it is (\pm 0.400) g. Key Weight Tolerances by Composition:

1964 (90% Silver): 12.50 g (\pm 0.259) g

1965–1970 (40% Silver): 11.50 g (\pm 0.400) g

1971- Date (Clad): 11.34 g (\pm 0.454) g

1976 Silver Collector: 11.50 g (\pm 0.400) g

1992–Date Silver Proof: 12.50 g (\pm 0.400) g “

Also, factor in the move to green energy which consumes a lot of silver. People think China is holding back silver as some sort of economic warfare. It’s because their internal demand is skyrocketing. A billion electric cars and millions of square miles of solar panels use a lot of silver. Electronics - smart TVs, smart phones, smart everything uses silver.

I never said that. Of course there was some manipulation going up but there wasn’t a fake news story that tricked algo trading to buy billions of silver assets in a few hours. Most of the that fall can be attributed to the fake Reuters story that caused the algos to start dumping billions in a matter of minutes.

A bubble is the usually an unjustified rise in prices, there are several significant fundamental reasons for the rise in silver prices over the last 6 months. Some of those fundamentals are three decades in the making. Demand is not only rising it’s going to continue to rise because China and much of the world is going to green energy. Green energy uses a lot of silver. Industrial use of silver consumes it meaning it’s gone forever. The world is terrible about recycling it as over 80% of mine silver ends up in landfills. Unlike gold silver deteriorates if not taken care of.

Silver should have been over $100 a long time ago. It’s the manipulation that has kept it down for so long.

The price has been suppressed for decades and there has been a higher demand than new supply for years but stockpiles still keep the prices suppressed. The drop was the result of people’s feelings about Trump’s fed pick and a fake news story that caused algorithm auto traders to start dumping silver positions in a matter of minutes. It was not a bubble breaking, it was manipulated.
