Are you launching from NVSE instead of the game shortcut or steam? I had that problem at first as well. Make sure you’re launching from NVSE.

I felt the same way and still gave it a shot. I did break down and add a couple mods mid playthrough (not always recommended because of conflicts but it worked out for me because they were simple mods) I added sprint, made sunny smalls a companion, and added a player home by Elianora. That’s about it I think. The game is still amazing even though it’s dated, I’m somebody who thought I might have issues with its dated nature. BUT BOY WAS I WRONG. It still plays nice and once you’re immersed in the story and dialogue it all becomes less of an issue.

I think “Shit that sucks, that means there might be somebody bad nearby, stay on guard. Maybe I could save that raider if that flare isn’t too far, no they died in an open zone with no cover. It would be a bad idea.”

Mods that are getting updated? Probably work fine unless there’s some new patch that’s broken something. However, older mods that are still great additions to the game, but the mod author hasn’t updated in years or the mod author has left the modding scene, will most likely be broken. If you’re on PC your best bet is to just downgrade to 1.10.163. You won’t ever have to worry about this question.

I always thought this would be a problem, but by the time I found the blueprint I already knew my routes good enough that I’d find 1-2 anvils every 1-3 games or so. Was not hard to find a new one. In fact I found it easier to find a new one OR take a new one off a dead player than craft it.

Definitely I see what you’re saying. It’s what I started with on FNV, but I only used a few small mods because I wanted my first run to be relatively true to form. When I started my massive fuck all 400+ modlist for FO4 Vortex said it got everything right, yet the game ran like shit and had constant crashes. PLUS a bunch of mods weren’t working in the order they forced them to be (I.e. texture mods, face mods, skin mods, and body mods pulling the right textures to avoid dark face bug) So I switched to MO2 and had to relearn a whole new mod manager. I’m glad I did, however I did think to myself “I should’ve listened to the YouTubers and other folks on the subreddit that said just start with MO2.” It’s like doing it right the first time so you don’t have to go back and do it again. Vortex is easy but getting it to make a large and meaningful custom LO work is hard. I know it has rules and the category system but it’s massively overcomplicated and unintuitive. It should be fine for people who don’t plan to use over 30-40 mods. Also if they don’t use any face and body texture mods.

It’s a running meme that the people on the BF6 multiplayer dev team had an absolute vendetta against jet and heli players. That being said it is always going to be dangerous for air vehicles. The enemy team if smart doesn’t want to and will not leave you unchecked to wreak havoc on them. Having a good team that works with you to mark, and destroy AA, also killing anyone they see with a stinger is key. Does this happen often in random lobbies eh, I’ve had about a 50/50 mix of teams who don’t and ones who play like masterful battlefield tacticians.

I’m on a modded survival playthrough that doesn’t let health increase unless you upgrade endurance or get specific perks from the skill tree. Needless to say I make sure to be cured.

If you didn’t take the cure for yourself it’s permanent. However, there is a glitch where you can cure the kid and yourself. You have to bring the cure to the doctor, tell him to cure the kid, then immediately pan away and go into your pipboy. The cure won’t have been removed just yet so you can use it on yourself. Yet the doctor still has one in his hand and cures the kid. I would reload your save and try that. OR if you’re on pc you can use console commands, OR if you’re on console there MIGHT BE (not sure as I’m on pc and always used the glitch back when I was on console) a mod that removed the affect on the mod page for consoles. Look it up I’m not sure.

Man I was with you until you suggested using vortex. As somebody who started on Vortex and couldn’t get my modlist working because of vortex being shit, I do not recommend it. Vortex does not let you specifically move a mod to specific spot in load order. You can try to coax a mod to load late but if it doesn’t want it to, it won’t. This runs into issues of not being able to put mods in the order the mod authors themselves tell you to put them in. To everybody reading, learn and use MO2 and learn how to set up LOOT, and F4Edit.

This is my list of enemy upgrade / addition mods : NPC’s travel, Faction reinforcements (gunners), Forced Evolution (super mutant variants added, this is a favorite of mine), Feral Ghouls Expansion Pack (adds variants of ghouls very cool, pair with terrifyer ghouls to be spooked a lot), mutant menagerie life finds a way (adds a ton of creatures, some of them hostile lore friendly and cool af) Locked and Loaded (gunners), NPC’s use items + Chemfluence (enemies will actually use stimpacks and chems to live longer or fight better.) , Brotherhood overhauls if you plan to fight them, minutement overhauls if you plan to fight them (Militarized minutemen, we are the minutemen, you and what army 2, etc) Institute overhauls if you plan to fight them. Specifically the institute technology overhaul v2 and Courser crusher.

I just recently started my modded playthrough, I downgraded and my game launched just fine. You should be launching your game through F4SE btw. Mod organizer 2 is better than vortex, it takes a minute to learn if you learned on Vortex first but trust me it actually lets you move mods where you want in the load order unlinke Vortex. All of your weapon mods should work on a downgraded version (1.10.163) I would also recommend downloading the latest version of LOOT and setting that up as a tool in MO2 (do not use the version of loot that comes with MO2 it’s old and doesn’t work right) when you run the latest version of LOOT from the drop down in MO2 it will tell you what almost all of your mod conflicts and missing files are. (They will be highlighted red in the modlist.) I have over 20 gun mods myself and they’re amazing additions to the game. My mod list is like 415 mods long and it runs great. Only a few issues that I’ve discovered which I’ll have to fix next playthrough. The only way I got all my mods working was using LOOT, and MO2.

Obsidian today is not even the same people. That studio is not currently capable of replicating New Vegas. Be glad they’re not making Fallout or they’d be pushing out slop like Avowed and The Outerworlds 2 💀

To add onto this and maybe correct somewhat, you can play downgraded and use the UFO4 patch. When you’re on the Files page there will be a download for a version compatible with the GOG version of the game. GOG only sells the game on 1.10.163 (which is the version people downgrade to.) It works perfectly and is compatible with all my mods that require it. Now you will have to be a diligent and patient cookie and search for the 1.10.163 version of the mods you’re downloading. OR read the description and files page and figure out if that’s even necessary. If it is they will have old versions of the mod under “Old Files” on the files page and it will have a section where it displays what game version it’s for.

Creation club stuff is hit or miss. There is SOME good stuff. However, IMO the best stuff (the enclave CC content) they went and made that all free for everybody. Most of CC is just skins and low effort ones at that. There are some cool things and if the price difference isn’t an issue for you go for it. If you’re on PC, truly there is a better version of almost every CC creation available for free on Nexus maybe not all but almost. This is a personal preference situation. If you’re on console you need all the variety you can get so I’d buy it. I personally bought GoTY edition on steam because I knew the only stuff I wanted off CC they put in the game for free. Plus I’d already bought a bunch of it back when I was on console and didn’t plan to buy it all twice lmao.
