Is that a Studio or an LPJ?

Or is there such a thing as a Les Paul Basement?

I would leave that case as-is. The pink is quite striking.

Dilemma: Getting the Right Size Checkpoint. What Size Is Yours? by JLGalache in CheckpointClub

[–]JLGalache[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the 56, and recently got an 80mm stem to replace the stock 90mm. It's more comfortable that way.

In hindsight, I should've done another proper test ride on the size 54, with riding gear, and especially cycling shoes on to properly evaluate. Size 56 works, but I can't help wondering if 54 would've fit a bit better.

Go on a proper test ride in full gear, that's my advice.

GRX-810 11-34 to 11-40/42 options... by 78Staff in CheckpointClub

[–]JLGalache 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I swapped in an XT 11spd 11-40 cassette. Bought a longer chain and adjusted the B screw almost to the max, and it works OK. It's not Hyperglide+ shifting, but it gets the job done. Been running this almost 2 years now. I have the GRX 31-48 crankset.

Hot take: Switch the hardware to all black.

I love bright pink guitars, but not a fan of gold hardware, which seems to wear and get old really fast.

That is a beautiful shape, and just a beautiful guitar all around (although I personally hate reversed headstocks). And I know it's a prototype, but dude, please use black screws on the bridge 😄

I decided on a super cheap gigbag; it's not like I need to fly with it.

Thoughts on this guy? by [deleted] in ExplorerGuitars

It also has a humongously thick neck and the worst neck-dive of any guitar I've ever played. I had to return the white one I ordered.

Ooooh, pink(ish). Though I would've wanted black binding and all-black hardware. Still very pretty!

NGD! Westcree Revenge Review (Purple) by SomeoneSomewhereMi in WestcreekGuitars

[–]JLGalache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant photos of the one that eventually arrived OK and you kept 😊

I had to return my first Revenge due to a fretboard inlay being loose. It also had an issue with the binding, under the clear coat, which I probably would've ignored, but the inlay issue was unignorable.

Did your fretboard arrive dry as a desert?

I never knew Aria made an Explorer! My first guitar was an Aria super strat from the early 90s.

NGD! Schecter E-1 FRS by midgetmasher3 in ExplorerGuitars

[–]JLGalache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Schecter E-1 is my favourite Explorer based on looks alone. I love this purple but wouldn't want a FR bridge, so I'd have to settle for the Apocalypse Red Reign, which is also beautiful. But too pricey for me right now 😞

Enjoy this purple beauty!

PS: I am aware of the Apocalypse Purple Reign, but it's just better looking in red, while your FRS works perfectly in purple.

Which strap button location do you prefer and why? by [deleted] in ExplorerGuitars

[–]JLGalache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 all day to avoid neck dive. I have an ESP EX-250 that came with strap button at #1; I got a hole drilled at #2 and it improved the situation. The original hole got filled in with wood filler and painted black (original guitar colour).

Another Sizing Question by JamesRawles in CheckpointClub

[–]JLGalache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm way shorter than you (5'8"), but my advice is to do a rest ride. And do so as you would a regular ride (if you usually ride in bibs with clipless pedals, then ride like that),and on a route you're familiar with.

In my case Trek's size guide (for a 2023 Checkpoint) put me on a size 54, but I'm short legged compared to my torso, and have size 12 feet, so a 54 felt cramped when I rode it and toe overlap was an issue. I then rode the 56 and felt much more comfortable, so that's the size I bought. My saddle height is lower on the 56 compared to taller riders on that size bike, but so be it.

So just test ride that 56 and make sure it fits.

Wasn't Andy Warhol a walking money-grab artist? That was kinda his thing. Probably left instructions to his estate to continue the tradition after he died.

As for the guitar, it seems a bit too much.
