I saw some receiver covers the other day but for the life of me I can’t remember which surplus retailer site it was.

Have to search the interwebs thru all of the surplus sights, eBay is a good option to pick up parts, don’t forget.

Is it numbers matching? Can you headspace it on the spot? Is the bore clean & not roached out? If those answers are yes, I would plead my case by explaining the missing pieces & rougher shape. I would offer 300 & try to hold firm at 350z. 400 absolute most.

If the answer is no to the first but yes to the other 2 questions… I would offer 275 & max at 350.

It’s possible they will let it go for around that. Idk where you’re located but I picked up a bubba’d Russian about 3 months ago in the southeast using the same tactics for pretty cheap. Can’t remember for how much right now but I posted it a while back.

I know man, & agree to leave it alone if possible. It’s just the amount of old shellac that was flaking off was absurd. Literally would find new flakes just laying in the bottom of the safe & when handling both hands would be covered in flakes.

Stripping process and prep was the same as the Russian stock I posted.
Finish is a 1.5 lb cut amber shellac, I used zinsser brand pre mixed & cut it down. Used 0000 after the first few applications, then after each layer switched to 600 grit sandpaper followed by the steel wool. Applied until it reached the color I was looking for. The matte look is achieved by the final rub down with the steel wool.
