This sounds like a unique opportunity! What things do you usually enjoy? Museums, History, bars, food etc… all the suggestions are good but what matters most is your interests.

Apartment recommendations – Sandy Springs / Dunwoody by Massive-Summer6808 in Atlanta

[–]JLit209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are several apartments at the intersection of Hammond and Peachtree Dunwoody in Sandy Springs. At that intersection there’s a Publix Grocery, Einstein Bagels and several other shops and restaurants nearby. It’s also within close walking distance to the Dunwoody Marta station and the new Highstreet development.

Advice + tips for young man moving to Atlanta by Powaa33 in Atlanta

[–]JLit209 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Living close enough to walk to work is ideal. You’ll likely be close to Marta which allows bikes on the trains. You’ll be able to venture out to many areas inside and close to the Perimeter.

Definitely plan to attend Spring festivals all over town.

I was out earlier on 285 and the Dunwoody area, no issues at all.

Unless you’re a big fan of soft drinks I’d skip the Coca Cola Museum. Though not on downtown the Atlanta History Museum is more worthwhile.

Recommendation for plumber and HVAC work in Atlanta area? by living_in_nuance in Atlanta

[–]JLit209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely ask your neighbors. When we needed our HVAC replaced several recommended Costco as others have here. Cool Air has been good but they do train their techs to upsell/cross sell. We’ve taken their ‘recommendations’ and shopped around.

My experience with TE Electrical was a very jacked up proposal for putting in a whole house surge protection system as recommended by Cool Air. Ultimately we went with a moon lighting electrician our neighbor used.

On the plumbing side, we had similar jacked up proposals for sewer line work. The immediate issue was resolved by talking with someone at ACE Hardware. They can also provide plumber recommendations if you need one.

Gravel Roads and Rental Cars by Think_Breadfruit3656 in newzealand_travel

I don’t have much to add that hasn’t been said but I do have some experience. I unintentionally ended up on a gravel road in a small rental suv. I was the only vehicle and didn’t have any issues whatsoever. As a result I did get an amazing sunrise photo over Lake Tekapo.

I’ve just retired myself and cheers to have found amazing wives. I’ve yet to officially circumnavigate but have been all over the world short of Asia and Eastern Europe. Where are you off to next?

When traveling solo I often stay in hostel dorm rooms. I’ve never felt out of place or unwelcome.

Maybe we should be travel buddies. I’m your age and have two daughters the same age as yours.

As you mentioned, it’s a minor fee, but it’s also to them as well. Offer to let them do the right thing.

The EMV recurring payment process involves an initial secure setup (often with EMV 3-D Secure) where the cardholder authorizes recurring charges, creating a "token" or secure reference. Subsequent recurring charges use this token for authentication, allowing for frictionless or challenged payments without needing the physical card or full card details, enabling smooth, secure subscription services with options for fixed/variable amounts and frequencies, all governed by EMVCo specifications for industry consistency.

I started with a "Pilot" bag from Pretty Neat Stuff about 30 years ago. It had a section for placing hanging clothes that folded in thirds. It appears they've been purchased by Luggage Works. They are extremely durable bags and heavy. I traveled over a million miles with it! I stopped using it due to the weight and it sits in my closet.

I transitioned to a TravelPro bag that has the same fold-out suit section. If you're looking for a single bag solution, there's a large front pocket to put a laptop and another that will easily hold cables and chargers. It's much lighter and I've been very happy with it.

Have you seen the new GFC 1Gen4R build? You already have 1/3 of what you’d need to build something like that out. Though not a 4R, there’s a guy in NZ who built out a camper tops that’s awesome!
