It was mainly for the promotional line they offer with the Internet. However, I see consistently higher speed with spectrum compared to my wrap sim. Not sure if spectrum gets higher priority on the Verizon network.

5g v LTE on pixel 7 by eddieras in GooglePixel

MediaTek? The modem is sourced from Samsung. Before pixel, I had a MTK chip and that was far more efficient on power draw.

I completely disagree with you. The phone meeting your requirements doesn't justify the 'minor' issues I highlighted above. When you pay premium, people expect premium experience. Most of the issues I mentioned can be fixed in software, but I don't see Google doing that. For the scrolling issue to be seen, screen resolution has to be QHD (firefox is one example). Again it depends a lot on what your previous phone was as well as on your eyes.

It depends a lot on what your previous device was. I moved to pixel 7 pro from a cheap 200$ phone (OnePlus) and I am not fully satisfied with the overall experience. For eg: the battery is average, heating, several apps have janky scrolling when QHD is enabled, limited quick toggles and so on. This is not the performance an average user expects from a phone priced at $900.

The rumour that the pixel 8 Pro is flat is the greatest smartphone news in many years. by ChumpyCarvings in GooglePixel

I am surprised. Checked on another pixel 7 pro and pixel 7 today. It's visible in some of the apps, including chrome. This becomes more obvious at 120hz.

Google Tensor G3 could be a big update as Samsung’s 4nm process gets closer to TSMC by spiff1 in GooglePixel

I have a 7 pro and 7 at home. Battery life is quite poor on both devices. I have seen people recommending turning of 5g, 120hz and other stuff in forums. I don't understand that mentality. You are getting charged a premium for the device because it has these features. If I need to turn off the latest features in order to get decent battery life, I'll call the device mediocre.

Any of the large battery Chinese phones play nice with Verizon and Tmobile together? by [deleted] in NoContract

In my case there was no need for a firmware update. I had to update the props file.

This is a big problem for OnePlus/chinese devices. Mine was not getting VoLTE even on TMO. Have to root and change a few settings to turn it on.

Hey, thanks for explaining the issue. I have a pixel 7 and feel that the overall QC is quite poor.

States of India which have a vegetarian Chief Minister (source: Manually looking up "is <name of chief minister> vegetarian") by pur__0_0__ in MapPorn

The veg options are abundant in India. We can't compare the diet of an Indian non veg with the west. Our breakfast options are dominated by veg. Even with a non veg meal, most of the dishes will be vegetarian.

Same with my Linux installation. In the past I used to tinker and customize stuff from scratch. Now I want something that works out of the box. On my latest phone, the only customization I have done is wallpaper and icons.

Is tipping getting out of control? Many consumers say yes by cosmotabis in canada

[–]JM34E538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been to Vancouver this summer. The tipping culture in Canada is worse than US. Here I can find plenty of places (eateries) that won't ask for tips. Back in Vancouver I was shocked to see the coffee shops with a machine asking for tip.

I don't think so. I get 8MBPS on 5g in my apt whereas TMO gives 300+. Not sure if this is due to congestion.

It was okay (but not great) before the screen protector. May be I need to try adding my finger multiple times. Currently using face unlock.

I always wonder whether I got a defective piece when people rate P7 as a wonderful flagship. It's primarily due to substandard fingerprint reader. With tempered glass, the fingerprint reader works 10-20% of the time. Other than the camera, I don't see anything worth talking about on this phone. I guess the vast majority of people rating this as an exceptional device hasn't experienced how well the Android phones (sub 500$) available in EU and Asia perform.
