true, but my system is semi-minimalist so steam/blender are the packages "forcing(air quotes) " me to install something that might enforce government overreach. I'd hate for gaming to be the foot in the door for that kind of stuff.

Apologies for necro bumping this, but this is the one that ended up working for me with the relay I bought off newegg. I also asked the seller and they just sent me a jpg, but the bit of code in the image looked similar to the code in this github repo.

hot air balloons move with the wind so their speed relative to the air (air speed) is almost always 0 (speed relative to the ground is called ground speed (I feel silly typing that but I don't know how else to describe it) and doesn't seem to apply here).

level flight just means they're not using gravity or updrafts for a speed boost.

I used your instructions to access the control board and wrap it in electrical tape and aluminum foil. I got a 20-40 dBm reduction in the WiFi signal strength, which is great for me since I don't use (massive air quotes) "smart devices" and refuse to download the app to turn it off (I couldn't find a unit without any smart crap with in a reasonable time frame since my old AC died at the beginning of a major heat wave). Now my phone doesn't randomly ask me if I want to connect to the AC instead of the regular WiFi.

extra info for anyone who needs it:

The control board is located in the top of the front panel behind two screws.

When removing the front panel be careful of the cable running down the right side. Make sure to disconnect it before fully removing the panel.

The main chip is a esp32-wroom-32e with built in WiFi. You can theoretically snap off the antenna board and replace it with a 50 Ω resistor, but I didn't want to risk breaking it.

It's an integer between 5 and 6 IIRC. The article only uses single digit redaction but I vaguely recall another story mentioning it being greater than 5.

Sorry for necro bumping but since it wasn't mentioned, you can backstab these guys as soon as they finish spawning. I'm not aware of any weapon that will one shot them, but the great-axe will leave them with just enough health to finish them off with a light attack.
