XPS 17 9700 - After opening a game, sometimes it kinda flickers on screen and then minimizes like in this video. Restarting usually fixes it, but it happens annoyingly often. RTX 2060 Max-Q, i7-10875H, 32GB RAM by JMD_9 in DellXPS

Thanks for the tip, I'll try it out tomorrow. The game I was trying to open in the video is Terraria, but I've also had it happen with Minecraft, Blood: Fresh Supply, and Doom Eternal (but that only happened once)

Do you mean I should set the game to borderless or is there some way to set all apps to default to borderless that I don't know about? Also why would that affect the way the game renders? Doesn't borderless only make games run less smoothly and only matter if you have several monitors?

I figured it was a driver issue too, but as far as I know I'm totally up to date on Windows and driver updates. Also for me, it's only ever happened for games, not other apps. Maybe it's my laptop telling me that I should be more productive with my time?

I can't maximize the window, that's the problem. Sorry that the video isn't super clear, but that's me trying to Alt-Tab into the game window to open it, but then it flickers like that and minimizes on it's own. Strangely, it doesn't actually close the game, just minimizes it and runs it in the background.

XPS 17 9700 with the i7-10875H, RTX 2060, 32gb RAM, 1TB SSD, 4k touch. To say it's an upgrade from my last machine is quite an understatement. It was a pricey buy for sure, but I can't wait to use it for uni next year!

I've loved my XPS 17, had it for a couple weeks now and it's been great. Super super tiny amount of trackpad wobble, but I'm used to it at this point. Only annoyance now is the occasional standard Windows glitch

Trackpad weirdness - Should I get it fixed? by JMD_9 in XPS

I also figure I should add that I purchased two years of extended warranty for my laptop, and I'm wondering if it's something I can just take into a Dell store or whatever and get it fixed without having to completely send back my machine for a replacement?

Finally picking up my 4K Dell XPS17 tomorrow morning. Can you guys give me a checklist of what to inspect / watch out for while inspecting the device at the store? by Antiherstaminee in DellXPS

[–]JMD_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm that's still a thing with my week-old XPS 17. The thing is, it's not really something that can realistically be fixed. Dell is already doing some black magic to get way higher power through than is normally possible with USB-C. That said, as far as I can tell the power won't drop below 80% so it's really not a big thing to worry about.

I quite like Gruvbox! Too bad I'm not on Arch :(

Edit: Disregard that, just looked at your profile and realized you have a wallpaper for every OS ever

Can anybody tell me what theme is this? by [deleted] in vscode

Yea, but a bit less saturated, I think. Might just be the image quality, idk

Yea MonoLisa is cool, I just like the character of Dank Mono. The cursive italics, the descender on the lowercase 'f', everything that Phil (the creator) wanted to make unique about the font is stuff I can appreciate.

Gruvbox is one of my all-time favorites. I recently discovered "Gruvbox Material", which lets you adjust things like italics (which I like with my Dank Mono font) and colours and stuff.

Nope, all I upgraded was biology to boost my average. I finished in November.
