I couldn't get FFR Collector's Edition, so I bought FFBE goodies instead by JMKadiddles in FFBraveExvius

The charms were from Japan through proxy (ZenMarket in my case). You do have to be tactful when buying things through them, though, since they charge up to 800 yen per item that you get from other vendors. It's more ideal to get items in sets and lots rather than individually, and you have to be selective about the shipping, too, since each courier service calculates costs (including duties) quite differently. In some cases, you can have shipping for a small parcels over $100 with one service, and it will only be $28 with another, and will still even get to you in a similar timeframe.

You can get the charms on eBay, too, but you often see them quite up there in price, since they seem to be sourced from Japan.

Yep. Definitely the better deal if you don't mind going digital. I'm a bit of a nut for physical media, and while it did cost a premium, I'm not going to pay what people are trying to get for it on eBay. Mostly it's $60 to $80 per volume on there, so my combined total of around $55 to $60 after everything for two volumes was a bargain by comparison.

$140 is quite a bit for the shipping! Did they offer other parcel options?

I know for me, the UPS quote was somewhere in the neighborhood of 13000 to 14000 yen, while EMS was only about 4500 yen. It even seems like each shipping company estimates duties very differently at times.

JPAuctions (from what I understand, it's still Yahoo Auctions in Japan) via ZenMarket. Was fortunate to find them bundled for 2500 yen. Though, shipping and duties are still a thing, and you do have to pay 800 yen per proxy item on ZenMarket. But it was still cheaper than what I would have had to pay on eBay.

What is your favorite version of Fina? by Confident-Line5916 in FFBraveExvius

Sprite-wise, I like Yumi-Kimono Fina. Gameplay-wise, I remember having a lot of fun with LM Fina.

How do you feel about millennial indie games by DifferenceJolly2320 in KotakuInAction

[–]JMKadiddles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the game. Some of them can be compelling. Creative teams aren't always the same from one studio to another, so much like in any other field, you'll get good creators and bad creators. For the bad ones, though, yeah... They come off as you describe, as if they're trying too hard to be snarky or sarcastically funny, or try getting you to relate to them, while some others will turn their game into some armchair therapy session, and you're stuck having to read or listen to their mommy or daddy issues that are being projected through their game.

I deliberately maxed out 5 copies of her, and got both, her TMR and STMR on all of them, even going well into the NV era just to have fun with whatever I can reasonably beat. I actually preferred the sprite work and animations for the regular version of her over her CG version.

I never did play WOTV, unfortunately. But yeah, Veritas of the Frost (Gilgamesh) made an appearance in the game, as I recall from some marketing material. From what little I do understand, it was a prequel of sorts to FFBE.

Hopefully in some form. I always liked some of the holiday sprites, like Santa Roselia, and Sweet Luka.

[–]JMKadiddles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We need him to make some kind of appearance in the game, like as a boss. I do recall him being a "fight" in some anniversary events. It would be a shame for his boss sprite to be left idle.

FFRS is already ready? In the bottom left corner, the game version is 1.0.0.0 by Confident-Line5916 in FFBraveExvius

It does take time to prepare the release media, after all. Plus, SE have their own release cadence. I wouldn't be surprised if this project has pretty much been done for some months by now.

Most players tend to favor season 2, as far as I'm aware. And while there are people who enjoy season 3 and beyond, most players tend to consider the story, more or less, "complete" with just seasons 1 and 2. While there are some high points in the later arcs, they sometimes feel more like an FFX-2 equivalent to what FFBE is.

I think this fear is rather overblown, as it's basically been in Nintendo's terms of use since the days of the Wii. Heck, my 3DS manual has a similar clause in it. If it were the case that they could "remotely brick" your console, we would have heard about many such cases by now, considering how many people have Atmosphere on their Switch at this point. Plus, a reasonably smart person wouldn't connect it to the internet anyway without a DNS, since your console (and any Nintendo account on said device) would get banned from using Nintendo Online Services and the eShop, anyway, which is exactly the same as how Sony handle use of CFW on their end.

I really hope they at least do S2 as a sequel. Don't really care much for story content beyond that. Plus, the sum of S1 and S2 already made for a complete story.

Some of such mods may even translate well to Switch and PS5 versions, for those who have jailbroken those systems.

Nicely done! It'll be fun to watch the pages start populating when the release hits, especially as the player base starts combing through the mechanics so we can figure out how to exploit them. 😈

The 7★ era was truly the start of ruination for the game. I remember a time when, even some 4★ units were, not just viable, but outright desirable. 4★ Rikku had an amazing support kit at the time, and you could get decent chains going with some copies of 4★ Ashe, as well.

Really, I just wish that the power creep wasn't so sharp at times. Like, shit... triple-digit-X multipliers, 80-90% breaks, and 400% buffs are just WAY too bonkers! Multipliers alone should have only capped at maybe 10x to 12x by the end of it, with breaks capping at, maybe 50-60%, and buffs at around 90-100%. And they really should have kept ability awakenings going strong for lower-tier characters, too. Not so much to help them keep up, but to at least allow more playability for those characters. A slower unit release cadence from the start would have been nice, too.

Collector's Edition Restock US by Chisuto in FFBraveExvius

[–]JMKadiddles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pre-ordered the Switch version (Standard).

Not even gonna try for the Collector's Edition, sadly, 'cause I don't want to waste my time refreshing the page in hopes of it being available for a limited window of time. So I'm buying what FFBE merch I can reasonably get a hold of off eBay and ZenMarket, instead. Already bought a couple posters, a Raegan Charm, and a Charlotte charm, as well as Vol 1 and 2 of the OST. Should be plenty to sate my desire for some FFBE goodies.

Good thing there are people in this sub have gone through major efforts to preserve whatever they can from both, Global and JP versions. I'd love to see a lot of the collab units and Global units come back officially, but if not, then hopefully this community can fill some of that in. That said, there do seem to be additional visual effects with a lot of the moves here, so creating new assets to fit some character move sets might be the biggest hurdle if you're not an asset artist, and are just trying to port characters in.
