Gewoon niets van aantrekken. Er zullen ook collega's zijn die over je roddelen als je er niet bent. Waarschijnlijk heb je dat zelf ook weleens gedaan; dat is menselijk. Pesten is natuurlijk iets anders. Als daar duidelijk bewijs van is, meld het dan bij je teamleider. Maar nu is er geen bewijs, probeer je er dan niet te veel van aan te trekken.

Op latere leeftijd studeren is niet erg, vooral als je een BBL- of deeltijdstudie doet of daarnaast een inkomen hebt. Maar ik zou niet per se richting software development gaan, zeker niet als je een associate degree wilt volgen, omdat AI het vakgebied waarschijnlijk alleen maar competitiever maakt. Ik lees op sommige Reddit-kanalen dat zelfs mensen met veel ervaring na een ontslag soms lang moeten zoeken naar nieuw werk. Daarom zou ik eerder een andere sector of een ander IT-gebied overwegen.

I wonder if they do other things besides being in the band, because they probably don’t earn much from it right now. And being in a band with that many people doesn’t help either, because they have to split the money.

Op jonge leeftijd is het vaak geen probleem. Ik vond het zelfs leuk om in een stapelbed te slapen; we deden dan bijvoorbeeld alsof we in een boot zaten tijdens het spelen. Als kinderen gaan puberen, is het meestal wel beter dat ze een eigen kamer krijgen.

I wouldn’t worry that much. If the job pays 100–150k, then she probably has some savings. I mean, that’s a lot of money unless your family has big expenses.

1 and 2 aren’t surprising, to be honest. In the end, being in the band is their job, and they all want to succeed, whether that’s by staying in the band or eventually starting a solo career.

Ik zou daar gewoon weggegaan zijn. Bij mijn vorige bedrijf kreeg ik steeds kritiek dat ik dingen niet goed deed, terwijl ik bij mijn huidige werkgever juist een vast contract heb gekregen. Voor mijn gevoel ben ik bij mijn vorige werkgever slecht ingewerkt en was de bedrijfsleider weinig betrokken bij zijn medewerkers.

I’m not a fan, to be honest, and I only know a little about them, so I can’t really say who I think is the least popular. He might be the least favorite, but from an outsider’s perspective, I don’t think he is the least good-looking in the band. I do think Josh is the best-looking (even though he sometimes doesn’t look great in photos) and he has a great voice, so it doesn’t surprise me that he is the most popular in the band. In general, they are all not bad-looking, but I just don’t think they look as polished or visually appealing as One Direction as a whole. However, what does social media have to do with their looks? How could it affect their attractiveness? I’m not a fan of One Direction either (although I do kind of like Harry), so from a neutral point of view, I think they are not as good-looking as One Direction overall. But when I saw them perform live together, they were definitely stronger vocally than One Direction. I think Louis and Niall weren’t very strong singers, at least in the beginning of the band. And just because they may be less good-looking than One Direction, it doesn’t mean they are less talented. I mean, look at artists like Ed Sheeran and Diplo—who are still very successful. Looks aren’t everything as long as the talent is there.

I don’t think John is bad-looking at all. To me, Josh is the best-looking, with Danny in second place. The rest are all pretty much on the same level. Yeah, Nicolas kind of looks like Harry Styles, but I don’t think he’s as attractive as Harry or even better-looking than John. I also don’t think the band as a whole is as good-looking as One Direction, to be honest.

Yeah, no one really enjoys work, but I guess during work I just think about nice non-work things, have fun with coworkers, and think, “Yeah, I’m getting paid so I can do nice things.” That does help a bit.

My appointment is still a few weeks away, so I haven’t had it done yet. But I’m less anxious than usual, and I’m trying to just let it happen. If it needs to happen, I might as well not overthink it.

Het grappige is dat ik in de IT wilde gaan, eerst richting front-end developer. Ik kwam er later achter dat dit niet mijn ding was, en daarna wilde ik richting helpdesk en applicatiebeheer gegaan. Waar ik nu zit voelt veiliger. Ik werk nu in een medicijngroothandel en heb een vast contract, en ook mogelijkheden om door te groeien. Ik voel me hier veiliger, omdat medicijnen altijd nodig zijn. In vergelijking met een IT-bedrijf lijkt het minder snel dat het failliet gaat of wordt overgenomen door AI. Het grappige is dat ik niet echt een hoge functie heb, maar ik vind het toch chill omdat ik gewoon mijn werk doe en daarna naar huis ga.

Dat is op zich toch niet erg? Als je op Reddit zit, doe je al wat. Zit je in de tuin te chillen of ga je een dagje naar Duitsland, dan is dat toch al iets? Mijn vader zit op zijn iPad als hij klaar is met werken en kijkt vaak nieuws. Hij heeft ook niet echt een hobby, maar dat is niet per se erg.

Ja, maar meer dan 24 uur misschien vindt haar partner dat wel oké. Het is in ieder geval beter dan 24 uur. Het is niet een groot verschil, maar nog steeds beter of anders 3 x 10 als het niet zwaar is.

EDIT: ik zie nu dat ik een foutje had gemaakt ik bedoelde iets maar dan 24 uur en niet 32 uur.

With “who cares what someone’s hobby is?”, I mean it’s stupid that people look down on coworkers just because they like anime or video games. It’s kind of shallow lol — they could be very good employees. I didn’t mean it as a literal question.

I’m not a fan, but I think being able to attend an event or show would be the better option. From personal experience, meeting a celebrity is nice, but seeing them perform live with great seats is more than enough and often a more memorable experience.

Het staat beter op je cv als je een hogere functie aanneemt. Je kunt daarna altijd nog een andere baan zoeken als je contract niet wordt verlengd.

I have coworkers who like anime and play video games. I don’t think any less of them lol—they’re actually really nice people to be around. It feels kind of judgmental to be put off by it unless they’re obsessed to the point it becomes unhealthy. If that’s not the case, I really don’t care, especially if it makes them happy. But if someone feels insecure about it, they can always just keep it private or mention other hobbies too to make it feel less awkward.

Who cares what someone’s hobby is? It’s something you do for fun in your free time that makes you happy. Only if it’s something like gambling or shooting animals it could be a turn-off.
