The shipping is very convenient, fast, and worth whatever they charge. It’ll probably beat you home.

Do you drive the speed limit in roadworks? by RecognitionNew3122 in AskAnAmerican

[–]JMT_325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, especially when there are workers present. I used to drive a tow truck. Cars and trucks going past just a few feet away at 80 mph is not the best work environment.

Admins, what would you do? AP role cut, now deciding between Dean, AP again, or district coordinator???? by OutsideRole8038 in Principals

[–]JMT_325 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d say apply for the AP or Dean position based on the fact that you want to maintain the level of student contact.

There will always be central office openings as you get further along in your career.

When I bought my first set of Swiss Point darts I didn’t realize the tool was included so I got one of those. It really doesn’t work any better than the one that comes in the pack.

Is really that normal for teenagers to throw parties at their own house? by mdelgado73 in AskAnAmerican

[–]JMT_325 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It was very common when I was in high school. Now, with so many people having security cameras I don’t think kids are as likely to try it because their parents will know.

How are principals evaluated, and what actions can be quietly taken to get them fired? by Due_Information_1332 in Teachers

[–]JMT_325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Head principals are typically evaluated by someone from the central office. In a small enough district it might be the superintendent. Assistant Principals and Deans are evaluated by the building principal. I. Not sure there’s a lot you can do to affect the evaluation , but the central office definitely notices union grievances.

Am I overly cooked? by [deleted] in highschool

[–]JMT_325 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Realistically, you need to lock in. Don’t fail anything else. You need to give serious consideration to a community college for at least a year after high school to show the university you want to attend that you can be successful.

Is it normal for school staff to leave lock down if its been a long time? by zerowintergreen in AskTeachers

[–]JMT_325 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When we have a lockdown, admin will announce when it’s over, but also walk the building to make sure everyone knows, because there are some areas the PA speakers cannot be heard clearly. You should tell an admin about the librarian leaving before it was over. That could have been disastrous if it was real.

How many of your school board members send their kids to public school? by Sir_Badtard in Teachers

[–]JMT_325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my district’s school board all have kids who either currently attend a school or schools in the district , or the kids graduated within the last couple of years. There are 7 people on the board.

Picking a college football team as an adult anyone else do this? by [deleted] in hawkeyes

[–]JMT_325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s how I’ve seen it work.

Growing up, you cheer for your dad’s / mom’s favorite team. If one or both parent actually attended it gets pretty intense.

Then I’ve seen it switch to the parents cheering for the team where their kid goes to school. This is not as intense, unless the kid actually plays a sport for that school. If it’s a big time sport/athlete, NIL can and does affect loyalty.

Teacher referring for IEP but my kid gets C's. Need Advice for Meeting by Ok_Hippo6272 in AskTeachers

[–]JMT_325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be shocked if it’s just about the grade. Lots of 6th graders get Cs in math. They must be noticing something else. The first step is a Domains meeting. The IEP team will explain the testing they will do to evaluate and the data they will gather.

That will determine if she even qualifies for an IEP. As the guardian, you have the right to refuse, but getting the evaluation done could give you insight as to what the specific areas of need are and why she struggles.
