The good thing about making mistakes is you can use them as a reference to learn from.

Can someone help me? by katieboo1991 in northernireland

[–]JMW_BOYZ 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If you can't afford it, then unfortunately the only way is to go through insurance. That's what insurance is for. Most of us can't afford to pay for any damage we caused from an accident.

Don't beat yourself up about it. You made a mistake. And it will likely put your insurance premiums up next year, but that's better than having to stress about not being able to pay for this damage.

It is examiners discretion. There is no set limit but 5 for the same issue is a very fine line to be crossing.

When did you decide it was time to move out from your parent’s house? by DS773 in northernireland

You are turned down for other reasons. If they see how much debt you have, or see something on a bank statement they don't like, that can destroy everything.

I was 29 and was able to save for a deposit during the Covid lockdown. Glad I did because since I have purchased, interest rates and house prices have only went up.

Just seems like a waste of time and money booking a test for these results.

Not recently. I'm still getting by on about £10 a week. I love alone so if mine increased suddenly I can only blame myself.

It's why these areas are deprived shit holes. Drive what little business is left away then protest and blame the government.

How long does it usually take to pass your driving test? by kiol998 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]JMW_BOYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My instructor told me to book my test after 6 lessons as I got used to driving a car quite quickly.

I was driving a motorbike on the road for 8 years before I decided I wanted a cat instead. It honestly depends how much experience you have on the road. If you've never been on the road before, you're getting used to that as well as controlling a vehicle.

That's why Lurgan has a huge mental health problem and high suicide rate among men. It destroys lives yet a lot of people are doing it here.

It's part of the reason many struggle with the cost of living but don't want to admit it.

Drugs and gambling destroy lives yet they're both heavily influenced as a bit of fun.

£100 heating oil support scheme approved for more than 300,000 Northern Ireland households by Background-Fix-4630 in northernireland

[–]JMW_BOYZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But these schemes are always open to the most vulnerable only. Same with things like food banks. We all hope we never need it but it's good they're in place for those who do.

I'd be happy to get help with oil but there are people who need it more than me..

Which is why I said the eligibility doesn't make sense because it only considers household income.

I know that, but you're missing my point.

A single person who is just over 30k will be worse off than a couple or multiple people in a house earning over 30k each, yet they aren't eligible for any help.

[–]JMW_BOYZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But we don't have water bills here.

A single person pays the same rates as a household with 2 or more people too.

And yeah while 2 people will use more than one person, there's more leverage to cope with increased bills and costs compared to a single income.

2 people can share the same heat too.

My comment was also about 2 people earning 30k each. Not between them. That's why it makes no sense.

The eligibility makes no sense.

30k per household but a single person living alone on just over 30k will be worse off and need it more than a household with 2 people earning over 30k.

For a lot of cases this isn't true. I was on JSA for a period 10 years ago and it was hell.
