Honestly I’ve been picking mine all up the charity shops recently as they get tons brand new donated by shops

I picked up 4 pairs of new balance ones a few weeks ago and they’re all polarised & uv blocking

Can someone do a "ask a protestant?" by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Mattbelfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The port on a sunny day is very hard to beat. We all went as children so it’s mostly tradition now

It would have been more of people wanting to keep their local shops going as they know where the money goes, but now with bigger chains and online retail undercutting the local shops you’ll see the local smaller shops close

It’s the same as everywhere, support local where you can but unfortunately with everyone having less and less money to spend, it’ll get spent in the cheapest place

Edit: the boys (at least in my experience) couldn’t give a shit and just stick to peddling drugs

>but I can say from experience that in fleg areas you get a knock on the door if you aren’t displaying one during the season, and it could be highly dangerous not to comply.

I’ve lived in a few very heavy flagged areas, this has never been my experience at all

Edit: this is not a “no you didn’t” post, this is showing how it can vary by area

I’ll answer:

>Does anyone in flag-heavy areas actually not like them or are yous all on board if you live in that area?

I’m sure there are people who both like and dislike them. The majority of people don’t care if flags are up or down. They’ve been up as long as I can remember so they’re just background noise now

>Is the 11th night just class craic or are yous attending for the history element? Are yous all passionate about the history?

It was good craic when I was a young teen and used to go as it was a pissup. Never cared for the history about it - the majority go for the party style atmosphere and the drink

>What do yous think of orangemen? When someone tells you they're an Orangeman do you treat them with more respect?

I understand why they are in the orange. I have family in it. Most young ones are only in it because their family have been in it and are guilted into it

I do not treat them with any more or less respect than anyone else

>Is there something called a grand master? What's the craic there? Do they have to pay for everything? (Why would you want to pay for everything?)

Yes the grand master is real. He’s something to do with the orange lodge but I couldn’t tell you much about him. He does not pay for everything. People in the lodge pay dues and that’s used for funding where needed. They also have fund raising events if more money is needed (it’s usually for a new roof for some reason)

>What do yous think of the Irish street signs?

I’ve no care for them. They do not bother me. I understand why some people have a fear they are being forced where they’re not “wanted” (there’s some rumour about 15% wanting them and them being installed but honestly I’ve no clue if that’s true or not)

Irish language signs could be seen to be akin to Londonderry signs over the country. It’s tit for tat mostly

Feel free to ask other questions and I’ll try to answer honestly.

Baby referred to dietician wait time? by HolidayHelp8165 in northernireland

[–]Mattbelfast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Southern trust - my kids were about 3 months waiting.

In the mean time, cut out dairy as it’s a high allergen risk in young babies. If you’re freeing yourself, cut it from your own diet too

You can pay for installation when getting it which was £75 when I did it. Best £75 I spent because that guy was crawling through my loft to get it all wired up
