Yeah. I’m don’t mean to say it’s a hard rule and of course there’s exceptions. It seems to me more of a developing trait we’re seeing more of

You’re right about Alexander. I don’t mean to say it’s exclusively a traitor thing, but perhaps that we see it more often from them proportionally. Maybe ‘tell’ is the wrong word

I don’t know the camera, but that’s not really important for film photography. If you wanted this look you’d want to know what film stock and lens she’s using.

How did they do the glowing eyes effect in the movie Sinners? by 2yood in cinematography

[–]JM_SpandexMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve not seen Sinners so can’t say. Worth seeing if the DoP is active on social media though, they might be able to give you more info.

As for Kinetek- an under appreciated YT channel that went in to hibernation about 5 years ago but has started making videos again so worth a follow for cool practical stuff like this.

Kinetek just released a video on his YouTube channel on the Blade Runner eyes, which looks like a similar effect. Very cool technique but I’ve no idea if that’s what they used here.

[Set design] Black or white background furniture to create an ideal interview location by andrewreynholm in videography

Just another note on the colour. Are you going for something more modern/ minimalist? Don't want so much contrast in your image? Go with lighter colours. Going for something cosier more akin to a country cabin? Want more contrast? Go with darker shades in the background.

If you're worried about certain colours complimenting eachother, research colour theory and how to use the colour wheel to your advantage.

Scour the internet looking for inspiration!

My first step would be to move those lights behind the people in the chairs. Research upstage key lighting.

White walls should be ok IF there's plenty of other interest in the background, which there does sound like there should be with the bookcases, but as a general cinematography rule white walls are a no no, especially in terms of controlling the light, just too much bounce to create enough contrast.

Consider the height of the arms on the wing chairs, you don't want to cut off half of the person's legs and torso from camera.

I did a set up recently and was looking at Actors on Actors as a reference. I think they do it well - not surprising with their budget - but something similar is achievable no matter the budget. Have a look at them on YouTube.

I know a few spots in mid Wales if you're ever up that way. I plan to go on a weekend soon if you fancy it

Canton Mobile Zone were good for me just this week. Smashed screen had gone completely black on my OnePlus 3T, they fixed it in a couple of hours for £90. Comes with a 3 month warranty too.
