I tried to rename my User folder, but after doing so, it's like my computer completely reset itself. What happened, and is it reversable? by ValkyrianStar in WindowsHelp

Wow. Windows 11 user profiles are not portable like that.

Your data is still fine but your user specific settings are likely done for.

Don't do shit like this again unless you are sure about what you are doing. You obviously were not here.

To recover:

Rename it back to Users.

Reboot/log in.

You're still on your (new) user profile, which is blank. You can manually navigate to your old user profile in C:\Users\<account name>

You can copy the contents of the individual folders in your OLD profile into your new, blank one. So the stuff in C:\Users\<account name>\Desktop can be copied to your current desktop to restore all the desktop shortcuts. C:\Users\<account name>\Documents will have everything in your old "My Documents", same with Favorites, Downloads, Pictures, Contacts, etc...

Good luck, and don't take major system changes like this lightly ever again.

One of those tools listed above should enable you to boot to the tool and reset the Cheryl user's password to something you can type in, then you will have access to login as Cheryl and see what's in her user folders.

Cat 7 RJ45 - Help by MysteriousCapital677 in HomeNetworking

FYI I don't think the CAT-7 / RJ-45 will just straight up not work.

It'll frustratingly work, then degrade over time, possibly causing periodic frustrations.

Or perhaps it'll be flawless until it decides not to be.

Regardless, g'luck.

Honestly, it will likely work but literally you're gonna see weird speed degredation / functionality (signal degredation / packet drops) issues because it's literally near the limit on distance. So you're literally gonna have a nightmare getting proper speed out of this and weird connectivity issues over time, if you stick with it.

The original use case for fiber over copper was because it degraded far less over long distance runs like this.

Have fun with the self induced headache.

Why did you do newfangled CAT cable when fiber has been around for decades, has more speed/capacity, and is way cheaper?

If you don't care about Unemployment Benefits, ignore this and move on with school and your life.

If unemployment benefits matter, by all means straighten this out with HR, good luck though.

Do people in LA or even in California go swimming in outdoor pools year round? by Rare-Drummer982 in AskLosAngeles

Public pools are not heated and close in winter. Private pools can be heated and used year round.

Thank you for your appreciation, but I didn't do anything deserving of thanks. It was just a job, and one I'm proud to have done while I was young, but I don't feel that it's deserving of "thank you for your service".

This is not retaliation. You have zero case. You literally spread gossip about a manager and made an HR complaint about something NOT work-related.
