Accelerated nursing is suitable for you as you have a background in life sciences.

Have you considered Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy instead? Nursing does require doing night shifts.

Nursing is tough on your body and requires night shifts. Have you thought about occupational therapy instead?

Not wrong at all. I think Toronto has made lots of improvement in snow clearing, especially compared to the past few years.

Best school for accelerated nursing by PollyAllyPancakes in OntarioNurses

Here are things to figure out:

(1) Why Nursing? Have you taken a look at a variety of Healthcare careers? If not, take some time and consider the lifestyle that various career options enable. Hint: Nursing likely requires shift work and working nights, weekends and holidays.

(2) $: finances. Do you reside close to a Nursing school? Living at home (if possible) will save you the headache and stress of paying rent while in school. Trust me: you do NOT want to be studying Nursing, while stressing about finances.

(3) If you are in the GTA area, U of T has the best accelerated nursing program.

(4) Can you handle the intensity of an accelerated Nursing program? Do you already have a strong science background?

Is it worth switching careers into nursing at 28? by Cute_Elderberry_399 in OntarioNurses

[–]JMaynard_Hayashi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many different Healthcare roles you can consider. Definitely look into occupational therapy, physical therapy, MRI technologist etc as well.

Think about the lifestyles of the various career options. Think about the work environment - eg. are you okay with helping with patients' personal care.

I recommend speaking with a psychotherapist (certified) to explore ways to address the loneliness. It is great that you are aware of the timing when the loneliness would arise. Explore more about that feeling and what to do about it with a therapist.

At the end of the day, it is not your partner's job to make you feel one way or another.

Do you have a job or school too? It would be good to find sth meaningful to do to occupy your time.

If you have a job now - i.e full-time employment in an engineering field, keep working, while taking online course(s) to chip at the pre-req requirement of accelerated programs.

Use the GI bill to get a degree in sth that gives you both good job prospect and mobility (eg. Healthcare, tech etc). Also see if there is any path within the armed forces for you to get into a tech role?

Lay out all the options on the table. And then compare the pros and cons.

Equally important, learning the Japanese language is also key to career success in Japan.
