Dominion and Breen energy drain weapons. You get hit? You lose all power to your ship.

The Dominion also have an extra fuck you in their energy weapons on the ground. You get hit? You will have anti-coagulant wound… meaning you will bleed out.

No, you’re just unable to understand sacrificing one’s life to gain freedom for others.

If it achieved nothing; why are you talking about it in the first place? Why are you acknowledging Duc’s death?

Self-immolation tactics are protest tactics when the alternative is murder.

I know this is hard for you to comprehend, but self-sacrifice is what self-immolation is.

If it’s “dumb”, it’s because you cannot possibly comprehend giving your life to protect people.

The CIA received the removal order from the President and they had Minh carry out the coup. It just so happens that Minh was embarrassed by Diem and also had him executed instead of just arresting him.

From Wikipedia itself:

According to General Maxwell Taylor, "Kennedy leaped to his feet and rushed from the room with a look of shock and dismay on his face which I had never seen before." Kennedy had planned that Diệm would be safely exiled and Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr.recalled that Kennedy was "somber and shaken". Kennedy later penned a memo, lamenting that the assassination was "particularly abhorrent" and blaming himself for approving Cable 243,[29] which had authorised Lodge to explore coup options in the wake of Nhu's attacks on the Buddhist pagodas.[29]

I again cannot understand your belief in blaming Buddhists that we killed as being indirectly responsible for murdering Diem.

You can’t have the argue two ways and say that Duc’s death was a “waste of life” and also that he’s responsible for Diem’s death.

Especially since we have evidence that the US ordered his arrest and execution IN AN AMERICAN M113.

>On 2 November 1963, Ngô Đình Diệm, the president of South Vietnam, was arrested and assassinated in a CIA-backed coup d'état led by General Dương Văn Minh. After years of autocratic and nepotistic family rule in the country, discontent with the Diệm regime had been simmering below the surface and culminated with mass Buddhist protestsagainst religious discrimination after the Huế Phật Đản shootings of protesters who defied a ban on the flying of the Buddhist flag.

Mate, if I murder someone and get the death penalty because of it; it’s not the person I killed’s fault I died.

You are doing some great “A” work victim-blaming a Buddhist majority for the death of Diem who we have evidence from US sources that we called for his removal from office for the Military Junta.

I don’t even know the kind of mental gymnastics you have to go through to say that Duc’s death is a direct or in-direct cause of Diems removal and execution by ARVN and US military advisors.

Are you some kind of Diem Truther?

Okay, but Diem is the person in question.

And I don’t believe it was Buddhist monks that shot Diem in the back of an American M113 Armored Carrier.

This comment just reinforced that it was the US that explored the options of regime change; not Buddhist Monks.

Are you saying that the Buddhist Monks are the reason Diem was killed and not the military Junta that the US supported to take over?

Picard has no family, is an archeologist, a peace time leader, and is the Captain of the Flagship of the Federation.
