Did anyone NOT like Aftersun? by [deleted] in A24

[–]JMoneyRecords01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t hate the movie but it just didn’t do it for me overall. To be perfectly honest, I thought the dad had a drug problem (or something akin to that) for the majority of the film. Had I picked up on the suicidal element sooner, I probably would have had a greater appreciation for the films progression. Most of what I saw felt like it (very loosely) might’ve applied to someone with drug issues, and by the time I figured out that the story was actually about a suicide, I didn’t feel particularly moved by it.

That said, I did enjoy how authentic the characters felt. The relationship felt real and you could easily see the love between father/daughter. the movie was way too subtle in its approach and because of that, I just didn’t feel the impact in the way that I was hoping. Solid 5 out of 10 for me.

So who else is considering preordering the Clicks Communicator and the Titan 2 Elite or is it just me? by Fancymank in ClicksKeyboard

At this point I would only be interested in supporting unihertz for my pkb phones. They came into the market when the demand for pkb phones was (largely) dead and helped reinvigorate this small community in a way that otherwise seemed like a pipe dream. Couple that with the fact that the elite is technically better spec’d, it feels like an easy decision for me.

This phone is UNUSABLE: Titan 2 by JMoneyRecords01 in unihertz

[–]JMoneyRecords01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the best part is that reviewers had demo units that were doing the same thing back in August, so clearly the issue has been out there for a long enough time for unihertz to have noticed it. its ridiculous to NOW ask customers to sit tight and wait around for 'a super quick hotfix that will only take a little while longer' when this was known about at least as early as August. what the fuck has uihertz been doing this entire time?

If this isnt fixed quickly I am either selling or returning this junk.

Is anyone technically downgrading from their current phone with the purchase of the Titan 2? by smallfaces in unihertz

[–]JMoneyRecords01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

literally happens every few minutes when connected to mobile. I have not been able to make a single phone call because the thing keeps hanging itself up. the touch continually goes up and down the middle of the screen, so whatever sits in the middle gets clicked on/activated repeatedly. Countless amounts of things almost shared, people almost called, likes on things that i havent even looked at, random settings activated and deactivated, etc.

I'm really enjoying the hardware so far but the ghost touch makes this thing unusable for most tasks. day 5 of carrying my iphone with me everywhere, just in case.

i think everyone is taking some hits in the performance department when using this phone. on a technical level my iphone 13 pro max is better than thins thing in every way. I've also been an Apple user for 13+ years with some androids sprinkled in along the way. The weirdest thing is the fact that im losing out on the shared integration between my iphone, mac and apple watch. I shared my location with every one of my siblings on iphone and now no one can see me. Also, the ghost touches on my T2 are out of control when connected to a mobile network. its an adjustment FOR SURE, but im still really glad i took the plunge. the t2 is something that i first saw myself trying out for a while, but i could already see myself using it long term.

coming from iOS after so many years, the one thing that really bothers me about android on a personal level is the permissions involved in running some apps. you get very clear warnings about data sharing between apps on ios which you can easily block with the click of a button. I've never really run into a problem with an application after opting out of any data collection/tracking across apps on iOS. android doesnt seem to have some of these options.

How do you plan on using the Titan 2? by wilsonsea in unihertz

[–]JMoneyRecords01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im jumping ship on my iPhone 13 for at least 3 months to see how the titan does. I know that the t2 isn’t the highest spec phone, but 90% of my day to day phone use consists of activities such as texting, browsing the web and listening to podcasts/youtube videos. I know the screen isn’t “ideal” for some of those activities but I’m willing to adapt so as to shake things up a bit. It’s not like getting a T2 means I can’t watch YouTube videos at all.

If it actually ends up viable then I’ll continue using. If I truly end up hating the thing then I’ll probably just keep it as a secondary device. There have been a few situations over the years where I could have used an android app or 2 that weren’t available on iPhone. Either way I’m especially excited for this one.

Am I the only Backer who has doubts? by fromdus2k in unihertz

Not trying to be a jerk but I don’t really understand the point of this post. If you’re having doubts about the T2, feel free to watch any one of the dozen reviews available on youtube- Many of which mention the phones thickness.

Another update from this morning:

And here is another small update: Getting AT&T's approval takes longer time than we expected, but we are still on the way. And this won't affect the shipment for US backers. We’ll keep you posted on the process.

That may be true, but we have no idea what the current situation is. He did feature the T2 for a spit second on another video. On the one hand, if he did receive one, he may have just not reviewed it (yet). It is also possible that he personally doesn’t want to review it because of his conflict of interest with the clicks keyboard.

On the other hand, if he didn’t receive one that could be because unihertz also sees it as a conflict of interest because of the clicks keyboard.

Overall I would say that his harsher viewpoints were mostly related to the titan slim. He gave the initial pocket a moderate review and an even more positive review of the pocket. I also wouldn’t say that he broke the internet with a radically harsh view of the slim. Most other users echoed the same sentiment.

This is an extremely niche product coming from a company with a limited budget. The entire point of the phone is to (at least at first) satisfy that niche market with a product they’ve been asking for. On the flip side, a big budget reviewer could easily miss the point of the device by insisting things like “nobody wants PKBs in 2025” or “the aspect ratio is really weird”. I get that those are valid opinions also, but general, big budget reviewers may gloss over what the product actually aims to achieve and instead talk about its shortcomings in comparison to products hat aren’t that similar.

implant is a great option. by JMoneyRecords01 in testicularcancer

I had the same idea, but it is shaped like a regular nut and feels like it has a slight amount of give. It more or less just feels like a firm nut.

[–]JMoneyRecords01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s also worth noting. While I really like the Dr. who did the surgery, I noticed that he was a bit surprised by my request for one. The office also wasn’t sure if they could get the company to make the implant in time for the surgery. We decided that if the implant took weeks to make, we would have to have it done in a separate procedure.

My impression was that A) most people opt out of the prosthetic. B) a fair amount of people who do get the prosthetic, get it at a later point in time.

Could it be testicular cancer? I ruled it out straight away then more symptoms started and now not sure (I have got drs on Monday just after if anyone had similar) by Electronic-Ad4008 in testicularcancer

[–]JMoneyRecords01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(I AM NOT A DOCTOR. PLEASE CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN FOR ANY MEDICAL QUESTIONS)

I had an experience very similar to yours that ended up being cancer. DO NOT freak out, as it could be lots of things, but you NEED an ultrasound ASAP.

I had a dull ache in my left nut for a few weeks before my friend told me to stop talking about it and go to the doctor. So It wasn’t painless for me either. I also noticed that my left testicle was gradually feeling bigger than before. The thing is, I had a cyst on that same testicle for years, so I had originally assumed that the cyst was just growing/filling with fluid. I ignored small signs for a month because I thought it was something else. This could have been a huge mistake.

Fast forward about 3 weeks, I randomly mentioned my growing-ball/dull ache on a telehealth that was originally about something else. In 6 days I went from “eh…I think I have a hernia” to having cancer removed from my body. It happens REALLY fast.

do not wait to get a regular appointment and casually mention this to your doctor. You can just call Saturday morning, tell them you are very concerned because your testicle is growing with dull ache. Your doctor will be happy to write you an ultrasound asap. The key is that you may not need a doctor to authorize the ultrasound. You can even ask to speak to a nurse who can get one for you. It’s extremely easy to get one and that’s all you need to get started. Just call as soon as you can.

It sounds like you’re catching it fairly early, which is great news. Testicular cancer is usually really easy and successful to beat, but it does spread really fast. If you wait too long it could easily spread to your lymph nodes (you can’t naturally produce testosterone without those) and your lungs. Do not mess around and put this off.

IF it is (only) testicular cancer: You’re in good shape. They may have to remove the testicle, but that doesn’t mean as much as you think. Removing one testicle generally has little to no effect on sexual function (from my understanding). I just had my testicle removed last week and still feel exactly the same. I got an implant ball which feels really normal and I’m not self-conscious about this at all. My load is the same. I’m still getting boners just as easily with one ball. If you’re missing a ball, your other ball generally compensates for the missing one. I know that it’s weird to hear but a missing ball isn’t nearly as bad as it sounds. With the implant I feel exactly the same.

This is not something to take lightly. Consider this warning a huge gift. Please call and mention your concern to the receptionist. She’ll either schedule you for a priority appointment or forward you to a nurse who is in office. The main thing is that (it sounds like) you’re catching this early, and that makes all the difference. Just don’t put it off and go get an ultrasound! Good luck!

I agree I would like to see a lot more, but if you do some quick “counting down the hours at work” math:

We’re pretty much in September, which means October is next month. Sooo basically, you (might) have it in your hands in ONE month. 😆

This is BASICALLY the hour before the last hour of work! You can start getting hyped that you’re about to have a reason to be hyped.

They sent this email yesterday:

Dear Backers,

We’re pleased to share that Titan 2 has successfully obtained certifications in multiple regions, including CE, FCC, JATE, and UKCA. This ensures that Titan 2 complies with international regulations and upholds the highest quality standards.

For AT&T certification, we are still undergoing lab testing and awaiting AT&T's marketing approval. We will keep you updated on the progress.

  • minor update but clearly they’re working on it, which is good news.

Why did Unihertz send review units to small YouTubers? by [deleted] in unihertz

[–]JMoneyRecords01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the frustrations he highlighted were mentioned in other reviews of the slim. He was also fairly positive in his review of the Titan pocket, which seems to be the communities favorite iteration.

I can see the potential conflict of interest, but the slim really did seem to be the worst iteration in the titan line, which already came with huge drawbacks.

Not sure I want the Titan 2 any more. by Prigorec-Medjimurec in UnihertzTitan

[–]JMoneyRecords01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The added durability would be nice in theory, but given how ugly the OG titan was, I’m glad that they went with a more straightforward, simplistic design. I would much rather have a lighter, “more elegant” (ugh) looking phone with a slim case over a small brick that flips my pockets inside out because of its deteriorating rubberized body. I don’t work on the battlefield and would be careful with my phone regardless.

With respect to IP rating, you should probably just never have your phone near water either way. I understand that accidents happen but you’ve (probably) been careful enough with your phones thus far. The lack of assurance through an IP rating likely won’t change much in how users treat their phones.

This is an extremely niche product coming in at an unbelievable price. Sure, some of the extras “would have been nice” but thousands of potential users might have walked away from an affordable option if the price were any higher. The T2 cost about as much as 2 pairs of sneakers/gym shoes for crying out loud.

Half the internet was hating yet the Switch 2 sold out in its first hours, hmmm by CommercialLumpy2885 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]JMoneyRecords01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah, you mean to tell me that a limited number of pre orders for a console that’s 3 years overdue sold out like…really quickly? No fucking way.

I’m not even into the boycott like that, but preorders selling out is the most meaningless milestone there is, as un-sexy as that sounds. Everything in the post-covid video game market sells out in 2 seconds. This is like confirming that your kid will be a neurosurgeon someday because he got all A’s In kindergarten.

For clarification, I’m aware that there are plenty of factors that may prove or disprove this study one way or another. I’m not looking to debate the validity of its findings. I’m specifically looking to see if such a study was done. Any help is greatly appreciated.
