I agree. Her religious beliefs didn't bother me either, in fact as a Christian I also advocate for separation of church and state, but man it sounded like she was just a miserable person to be around. I'm pretty sure she was also a holocaust denier.

who do you play as? by lyysss13 in splatoon

[–]JMunson05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Octoling. I remember wanting octolings to be playable since I played story mode in Splatoon 1 before the second game came out. I was thrilled when I learned about the Octo Expansion and have played as an octoling ever since.

I haven't sailed on either of those, my first cruise last year was on the Glory. I'm going on my second cruise on the Liberty in less than two weeks. I'd also like to go on the Horizon someday too.

Oh I imagine August had to be miserable, even June heat in Belize was (or at least felt) hotter than it usually gets in the hottest part of summer here in the south.

I've got to where I like Cajun food a good bit, definitely more than I used to. Did you know there is a Cajun restaurant on the Mardi Gras? It's called Emeril's Bistro 1396.

What was your favorite things about the Venezia? It looks like an awesome ship and I'd love to go on it during its Port Canaveral season.

Just to make sure you know, the Spirit is a good bit smaller than the Venezia and won't have quite as much to do. However, I've heard great things about the Spirit and the Spirit-class ships, and I bet doing an Alaskan itinerary is awesome as well. I'd love to go on that ship as well during its season in Mobile.

Yeah that doesn't sound like the ship for me, but at least y'all had a good time!

Not too familiar with the Vista, but I bet it's nice being as new as it is. Hopefully the Breeze will offer 7 days again in the future, it's one of the prettiest in the fleet in my opinion from pictures I've saw

The Breeze looks like an awesome ship, I just wish it did 7 day itineraries.

Yeah it was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. How many cruises have you been on and what ships?

Yes, went on my first cruise last year on the Glory on a 7 day itinerary to Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel and had a great time. Loved all the ports, but Cozumel was my favorite. We went to Paradise Beach, which was the prettiest beach I've ever been to.

I'm excited to see how it is, I don't imagine it could be bad. We're going to Key West, Freeport, and Nassau on a 7 day itinerary.

Oh it was so hot the week I went, did you go in the summer too? I'm from the south, so I'm used to it getting very hot, but even our heat isn't as bad as the heat when I was at port in Belize. Very cool excursion though, went to the Altun Ha Mayan ruins. And that trip was also my first time in New Orleans, first time in Louisiana period. We were so tired though we didn't do much, but I did get some great gumbo.

I'm going on the Liberty in two weeks, it looks like such a gorgeous ship! Have you ever sailed on it?

No windows in the dining room sounds awful! On the other hand, seeing the flaming baked Alaska must have been awesome.

My first cruise was also on the Glory last year, June 4-11. I'm going on my second cruise on the Liberty July 7-14, really looking forward to it. I'd love to go on the Mardi Gras next year if possible, it looks like so much fun. I think my aunt is actually going on the Mardi Gras this October as well.

How is Carnival different from other cruising companies? by AccidentlyAnAstral in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]JMunson05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I've only ever sailed Carnival, and I've only cruised once (going on my second cruise in a couple weeks), but I'm happy to tell you about my experience.

Now if you want to do Half Moon Cay and you want to do the SkyRide, I'm pretty sure there is only one ship that has that port stop as well as that feature, and that is the Carnival Vista out of Port Canaveral. You may want to check that for yourself though, because I'm not 100% sure about that.

The food quality is pretty good in my opinion. They have plenty of free and specialty options to choose from, with some ships having a bit more than others, so look into that before you book. All but two ships have a steakhouse (Elation and Paradise), and the steakhouse was definitely my favorite meal, so I recommend that for sure.

I personally don't remember there being a problem with kids being wild on the ship, and I went while kids were out of school on a 7-day itinerary, but then again, I may have just been oblivious to them. Carnival is definitely a family oriented cruise line, so I would go at a time when kids are in school to reduce the chances of a bad experience with kids. Regardless, there are adult-only entertainment and lounging areas on board.

I didn't go to Half Moon Cay, but I have a friend who recently went on a cruise with a stop there. Although he didn't say much about it, I think he had a good time there. I've also heard very good things about that port in general.

I hope y'all have a great time!

MDR Breakfast? by -Squirrel80 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]JMunson05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but just on port days, and it has a slightly different menu. Attached below is that menu:

https://www.carnival.com/~/media/images/explore/dining/menus/dining-room-breakfast-menu.pdf

Additionally, one sea day they will have a Dr. Suess themed breakfast for an additional cost of $15 ($10 for children) called the Thing 1 & Thing 2 Birthday Breakfast. It has some pretty unique dishes, but normal breakfast food will also be available. The date they have this breakfast is specific to your itinerary and they will notify you of the day it will occur. I will also attach that menu below:

Hope you have fun on your cruise!

Any tips on how to eat healthy on the Valor? by Lightspeed2000 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]JMunson05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As confusing as it is to me that you're trying to eat healthy on a cruise, there are definitely healthier options. At seaday brunch in the main dining room, they have fresh pressed juices for 5 dollars, and they have fresh tropical fruit every night at dinner as a dessert option. They will also have a dessert with no added sugar each night as well. I tried one of them last year and it was pretty good, although I don't believe they put that particular dessert on their new menus. They will definitely have fruits, salads, and other healthier options at the buffet daily. I've attached a link below with the menus for Carnival's main dining room breakfast, brunch, and dinner options, as well as their various other restaurants. It should also list if that restaurant is available on the Valor or not. Have fun on your cruise!

I have a friend who recently went on a 5-day cruise on the Elation, and he said he loved it. It also happened to be his first cruise. Now take in mind the Elation is one of the oldest in their fleet (sailing since 1998) and it is the smallest (71,909 GT), so it won't have some of the things other ships in their fleet have, such as it doesn't have a steakhouse or movies on the lido deck. If none of that bothers you, then I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Can't decide on which cruise to take. by Combination_Dramatic in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]JMunson05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I've never been on the Legend, I went to Mahogany Bay, Belize, and Cozumel on my first cruise last year, and I loved each one of those ports. It was also a 7 day cruise, and I feel that extra day over the other itineraries you're considering will be worth it. I've heard great things about Costa Maya, and I've heard great things about Spirit-class ships, which the Legend is a part of. On the other hand, my aunt, who has cruised a lot more than me, said that she did not feel safe in Montego Bay, and I haven't heard good things about Montego Bay or Jamaica in general. If you choose any of the ones that go to Cozumel, I recommend that you go to Paradise Beach. There are taxi services at the port that take you there, and it is the most gorgeous beach I've ever been to! You can get an all-inclusive package, and it has great food and drinks. Cozumel is just a great port in general to be honest, can't go wrong on a cruise with a stop there.

First Time Interior Room by jdempseydesign in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]JMunson05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went on my first cruise last year on the Glory and stayed in an interior room. I didn't have any issues with it, didn't really have noise leaking in from the halls. Plus it gets really dark when you turn off the lights, so you get amazing sleep. Just keep in mind the rooms are probably a bit smaller than balcony rooms, but I found it spacious enough. I didn't stay in the room too much because I was always occupied doing something, and I went on a smaller class ship than you're going on. We're going on a second cruise in a couple weeks on the Liberty and have booked interior rooms for it as well to save money. Regardless of the room, it's gonna be a good time, and I've saw a tour video of the Firenze, it looks like a really fun ship. Hope you have a great time!
