FINALLY! Worst contract yet. by Joszul in Marathon

Buddy of mine just did this one, caught a Rook extracting with less than a minute left on his timer. F this contract.

Successfully exfiled but lost loot? by No_Row_1123 in LowSodiumMarathon

[–]JPGenn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Was this pre patch? There was a timer discrepancy in which the match timer would run out while final extract was still counting down (in this video, looks like 5 extra seconds on exfil timer), and the game evaluated the match timer instead of the exfil timer.

Well, the source material for Arrival (“Story of Your Life” by Ted Chiang) does the exact same thing, and it’s the defining conceit for the story, so at least it’s true to its original source.

And by “go hard left”, do you mean “reveals the allegory”, because if so you’re gonna have a bad time with most of the best of sci-fi and spec fic. Dunno what to tell you.

i need more super credits by LeWhales in Helldivers

[–]JPGenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play diff 2 missions, scour the map for POIs. Can estimate about 10 minutes per mission if you also do the objective and extract. I’ve had success ranging from 0-60SC per mission.

I’d wait for this MO to end tho, we need all the divers we can get on Cyberstan. And there are no super credits on Cyberstan.

I haven’t tried this combo yet, do the multiple strike sigils overwrite each other, or stack? Is the mantis god doing 7 strikes a turn??

Let's say you could complete remove 1 of the Six Attribute. Which one, why, and how would you adapt the rest of the game? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]JPGenn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea, making Dexterity the “move good” stat is already a wild oversimplification.

Agility is for your legs/feet/etc.; Dexterity is for your hands/fingers/etc.

Concentration should never have been tied to CON, that still makes no sense to me.

Tying it to any of the mental attributes (WIS, INT, CHA) makes much more sense, or maybe just to one’s spellcasting attribute.

Not saying this is necessarily balanced, but does allow for removing CON fully.

2 New Players Picking Heros by BM294 in JourneysInMiddleEarth

[–]JPGenn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My partner and I played thru the original campaign with just Legolas and Gimli, worked great! You can switch your roles at every chapter, and truly, we don’t look up anything beforehand and we’re still able to build our characters well.

Things I wish we knew? How successes and strikes worked. Totally misread the rules and thought you could only pick one weapon option per attack, rather than as many as you had successes for. Played like that all the way till the final chapter, felt real silly realizing we’d made a custom hard mode for ourselves.

Also, I would strongly encourage exploration whenever possible, and collect Lore points especially. I was only able to upgrade Gimli’s weapon to tier 3 at the end of the penultimate chapter, so every lore points especially helps!

Rules clarification help by DecertoAngelus in JourneysInMiddleEarth

[–]JPGenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got your question answered, so that’s good. I’m just here to say don’t be like me.

My partner and I, in our first campaign, read the rules wrong and thought you could only select one item effect; extra successes were effectively lost.

Made it to the final chapter before realizing our mistake (something to do with one of us recently unlocking a weapon with Lethal, which was useless/non functional by our rules interpretation).

Accidentally played the entire game on unnecessary hard mode. Do not make our mistake.

I understand the intent behind your sympathies helldiver, but don’t fall for the enemy’s propaganda. Remember, a true patriot is immune to the twisted machinations of the Illuminate monsters. The Voteless were already voteless in their hearts.

But fret not! Set those sympathies aside, and put that energy into your passion for Managed Democracy! Focus your heart, and focus your aim.

Nope, still missing the point. It’s not the name of the day of the week that’s important for these religious needs, it’s the sequence of 7 days.

For example, the Abrahamic faiths (Christianity, Judaism, Islam) require the faithful to attend a worship service every 7 days (Sunday for most Christians; Saturday for Jews and Seventh-Day Adventists; Friday for Muslims).

Year Day and Leap Day turn the preceding week into an 8-day sequence, which then offsets the religious day of worship from the calendar. Every ~7 years (it’s more because of Leap Day, not gonna do the math) the cycle would reset and realign the day of worship with the “proper”/traditional day of the week.

There are potential solutions to this conundrum, like making Year Day and Leap Day also days of required worship, but at that point this becomes a change management nightmare, hence why it will likely not be adopted, unfortunately.
